I just wanted to share in the excitement of our daughter’s Baptism taking place this weekend.

At all our children’s Baptisms (and other initiation Sacraments) I felt tremendous growth in my own faith. At 28 years old we had our first child, and now at 37 the meaning of Baptism is seems so much more important. Perhaps with age we grow in our faith and begin to realize how blessed we really are to have all the gifts which the Lord has bestowed upon us!

If you want, please share your experiences with your children’s Baptisms, Eucharist, Confirmation or even Marriage and Holy Orders.

Jesus answered, “Very truly, I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God without being born of water and Spirit”. John 3:5

I totally agree Zizki! I would also like to add that through faith in what we were doing (having our child baptized) my husband and I realized the importance of practicing, teaching, exemplifying and witnessing our Catholic faith to our children as they grew.
Too many today see this as just a milestone and an opportunity to celebrate. Well, it is but it’s so much more than that!

Congratulations
Thanks!

Well said Anne. For example, in our Church at Christmas, we have a tree that is decorated with Angels representing every baptised child over the past year. After the tree is taken down, parents are asked to collect their childs angel. Still now there are many angels uncollected. Baptism is the correct start, but as you’ve stated, our responsibilities as parents have only just begun!
