There’s one beef right there, that the Church would allow Gentiles to join to the Covenant between God and Israel WITHOUT them having to be circumcised… as disciples of Jesus of Nazareth.
Paul’s beef was that the JEWS in the synagogues would not allow Gentiles to join the covenant without being circumcised in flesh. That is right on the part of the Jews because of Genesis 17 as well as in Ezekiel it is clear that no stranger is to join unless they are circumcised in BOTH the heart AND in the flesh. Shall they disobey God to please Paul and the Gentiles?

Yes, there are two types, muslims and no muslims or Christians and nonChristians or believers and nonbeliers…all are accurate. There are two types of religions in the world, the religion of divine acheivement where God does it all and the religion of human achievment where God does His part and man does his. One is the person and work of the Trinity, the 100% divine and the other is some god and human achievement.
What are you talking about? Please clarify because I am having a hard time understanding what you said here. It is too mystical.

Did it occur to you that since God had to reveal Himself to Israel through Moses and the prophet (and to some extent only) He was not so obvious even to the Sons of Israel? And even after, they kept acting in ways that angered God… So they did not accept the terms of God’s Covenant with them even though they had said yes to It.
God did not reveal Himself through Moses. This is evident in that they called into question more than once what Moses was saying. God revealed Himself through the Law. Proverbs 2:1-11.

Tell me, how could the Israelites fathom that a thing like this would happen? even when it’s implicit in the TaNaKH, how could one foresee that something like this could ever happen?
Also, if you deny the need for the whole human race to be redeemed and saved (hence the sacrificial system of Judaism), of course you can’t see that God would take such a step for our sake. We are in awe of this, we haven’t deserved this per se…
I don’t know what you mean that the Israelites fathomed such a thing. Hosea 11:9 … they didn’t.

This is something the Christians have conjured up in their own minds and it is not based on the Tanakh.

Oh no, they haven’t… nor have we.
Huh…You seem not to have understood my question, have you? Why do you reply so quickly that it’s something the Christians made up? I thought you were telling us, basically, that you are quite content to live your faith the way you’ve been doing. Just because we base our faith in a way different than yours doesn’t mean that we are wrong.
Or why do you seem to try to convince that somehow we are? You don’t have to…

We here might take your interventions as attempts to destroy our faith, which we happen to be convinced to be true. Bad witnessing from a good number of Christians won’t change a thing to the Truth of the teachings of Jesus Christ. They might have thought they knew it more than they actually did, which often lead to regrettable things such as the thing yourself said you experienced.

I remember a testomony on tape where this guy said, at one point: “I didn’t know, or more exactly I thought I knew, which is much more serious…”

Yes, and they got the Law (Torah) through Moses (Exodus 19–20; Deuteronomy)… or would you think the Torah descended LITTERALLY from the sky?
So, God revealed Himself through the Law, which God revealed to the Israelites through Moses. (You stumble on words quite easily, I’m afraid…)

Do you read the Bible ONLY in its litteral, concrete sense?

Gentiles were never required, even by the apostles to be circumcised … that is not a requirement to be considered righteous. When it is required is when a Gentile wants to join to the covenant between God and Israel. And man does not resurrect after death … not in the zombie type way so many believe. Is not 2,000 years enough to see this is a fact and that the Tanakh saying such is not lying?
Had I missed the point of your post here? I was trying to reply to it. Yourself were replying to a post of mine, which was…

How does this contradict what Paul was preaching? the debate was because the Church was beginning to accept the Gentiles into her fold without demanding that they get circumcised, and also because she was preaching a resurrected Jesus as the Messiah, as greater than the Temple itself…
…this one

Lapell;5738280:
Sorry, madame! This you heard from some Jews who don’t believe in Jesus as their Messiah, certainly. I know for a fact that some of them say the same thing.

You could say that in a sense I learned this from the Jews. I learned this from the Tanakh which was written by the Jews.
Paul started preaching Jesus as the awaited Messiah after he received a vision of the resurrected Jesus on his way to Damascus as told in the Acts of the Apostles, and he met with Peter and some Apostles to make sure what he was preaching was kosher doctrine in their view. They confirmed that his message was the same Gospel they were preaching. Paul tells this in his letter to the Galatians.

Read Galatians again. Actually, in the very first chapter you can see that there were disagreements with Paul. Genesis 17 … that token of the covenant between God and Abraham is in the flesh, and it is an everlasting sign. And clearly in that chapter, circumcision was to be for all those who entered into that covenant. Ezekiel 44:9 confirms that this was never abolished. “Thus saith the Lord GOD; No stranger, uncircumcised in heart, nor uncircumcised in flesh, shall enter into my sanctuary, of any stranger that is among the children of Israel.”

The Gentiles were never under the Laws given to the Jewish. If they want to enter into the covenant and they are doing it because their heart has been circumcised, they will not argue the circumcision of the flesh. 👍…which in turn was replying to this one, where you were replying to another post of mine…

Which already appears on the previous post of mine, quite to my surprise. Can you follow the whole thing from that point on, simplynoone?

Just please be sure to note that I am only saying the NT completes it under the context of Jeremiah 17:5,9-10

The NT reads very much like a “double edged sword” … and only through an intimate knowledge of the Tanakh have I come to realize that Jesus, being a Jew, never validated Christianity and its doctrinal beliefs. That came from Paul.
And my post (starting with “Sorry madame!”) was a reply to this, which I kinda wonder where you have taken this from. I doubt you read it just in the TaNaKH! You have got it from someone else from a much later time than Paul, maybe a contemporary… How versed are you in the study of the Bible to affirm things like this. I am not even sure you do know what you were talking about!

Before you say that Paul or anybody else invalidated the TaNaKH just from a couple of verses and on the word of some anti-Christian missionnaries, cool down. You might as well say that Jesus was a fraud! Or the Apostles, for that matter! As for saint Paul, you don’t have solid evidence that he was a fraud! if you have any, it better be good and true, because from now on I will consider you a false witness until you have proven otherwise.
What you are doing is not kosher, to bring false accusations, or accusations that may look close to true without being so…

Oh no, they haven’t… nor have we.

Lapell, the point is, Christianity claims to be the better minister to the world of what is said in the Tanakh. Yet, you all claim that God was a man. This is not something that founded in the tanakh. Read it. You will find the opposite written there numerous times … one of which is in Hosea 11:9.

We here might take your interventions as attempts to destroy our faith, which we happen to be convinced to be true. The Church claims that Jesus promoted the Christians as being the new “chosen.” Jesus said that salvation is of the Jews … John 4:22. So, the bad witnessing is not just the part of a few Christians, but the Church as a whole. You misrepresent not only the teachings of Jesus, but the whole of the Tanakh… and even worse, you misrepresent them to the world.

Be very careful what you will say on anyone of the Saints of the past. Just like there has been false propaganda on Pope Pius XII’s so-called guilty silence over the slaughter of 6 millions Jews. He had denounced it vigorously, and when he had to keep quiet, that was because then more lives might have been slaughtered. You may not believe it, but there are many Jews who remember what Pius XII did for the Jews as much as he could. And yet, after his death, a theater play was written on him, quite against him, and then the propaganda went that he really did nothing… lies!

Keep trying… you haven’t tripped me up yet, Lapell.
