The Gifts of Christ In Times Of Crisis

Whenever uncertain and troubling times arise, I always think of one of my favorite passages from the Gospels-John 14:1-4: “Let not your heart be troubled; you have faith in God, have faith also in me. In my Father’s house there are many rooms; if it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And when I go to prepare a place for you, I will come again and take you to myself, so that where I am you may also be. And you know the way that I am going.”
And, to me, it bequeaths a peace, a singular but certain promise-that He will deliver us from evil; that He will come again to help us.
God sent Him to intervene for us once, and one must have faith that He will do so again.

Thank you for sharing this verse; it is indeed consoling! All my life experience has proven that God never abandons us, even if we may have abandoned Him (which I did for a time). He is so good and generous and faithful!

And yes, we do tend to forget-as did I, until I read a recently published, and inspiring, book, which contained this passage-and I remembered to remember Him. Good luck with your vocation.

Dear Marie Veronica: You are more than welcome, of course. I always think how much poorer this world would be without these words; priceless and everlasting gifts, to be sure. There is a wonderful little book out now, which I’ve just read for the second time-it’s titled Transcendent Bread, and it deals with these things and others relevant to our history and the times in which we live. It’s rekindled things in me and made me think of the Gospel of John and the others.
