Can anyone give me the rules on when the Gloria is said/not said in the Extraordinary Form of the Mass?

Our priest is kind of new at this and a little unclear on it. Particularly for weekdays, what levels of feasts, etc. require the Gloria?

I am involved in providing the music (sung Mass), so I need to know when the choir should prepare to sing the Gloria.
 
The Gloria is never said in Masses celebrated in violet or black vestments.

Keeping this in mind, the rubrics (specifically n. 431, which your priest can find in the front of his missal) outline the following instances for saying the Gloria
  • all days when the Te Deum is said at Matins.
This is basically all Sundays except Passiontide, Lent and Advent. It also includes the feriae within Christmastide and Eastertide, all feasts, the Saturday Office of the BVM and the vigils of Ascension and Pentecost.

[Note: by feriae, I mean the ferial, as opposed to the sanctoral, Office of the day is said and the Mass said is of the previous Sunday ]
  • Holy Thursday and the Easter Vigil
  • Masses of saints on their feast day. This includes a Mass of the saint who has a commemoration on that day, or is listed in the martyrology for that day. Note that Masses of saints other than on the feast day come under the rules for Votive Masses.
  • Votive Mass of the Angels or the Blessed Virgin Mary on Saturday (which goes along with the Te Deum rule)
  • Votive Masses of the I, II and III Class.
    These are also specified in the rubrics which I can type if you don’t have access to it. But some of the most common ones would be (in no particular order as to Class)
  • First Friday and First Saturday Votive Masses of the Sacred/Immaculate Heartthe Mass for the Spouses,
  • Mass of Thanksgiving for the 25th or 50th Wedding Anniversary
  • External solemnities of feasts which is the Mass of a feast celebrated usually on the following Sunday
  • Mass of Exposition and Reposition for the Forty Hours devotion
  • Votive Masses at the end of jubilees, centennials, extraordinary meetings
  • Eucharistic Congresses, at the consecration of a church, blessing of an oratory or consecration of an altar
