The Gloriou Crowning of Mary and Isa 61:10

I have been using the long version of meditation on the rosary in the book “Pray The Rosary” a Saint Joseph Edition, and I am wondering about a scripture reference to one of the meditations on the Fifth Mystery: The Coronation of Mary. Before the 4th “Hail Mary” one is supposed to so meditate on this passage which, when I read it in context, is a revelation of the Messiah. It is a part of Scripture that Jesus reads when he begins his public ministry.

My question is: Why is this passage being applied to Mary? It seems to me that this speaks of Jesus’ Kingship, and not Mary’s coronation. Am I missing something?

The role of Mary in the Catholic Church has been an area of contention with me for a very long time, and something I am working hard at reconciling. I can accept that this may be an error, but it was given a Nihil Obstat and the Imprimatur within the cover which causes me some confusion.

I will rejoice greatly in the LORD, My soul will exult in my God; For He has clothed me with garments of salvation, He has wrapped me with a robe of righteousness, As a bridegroom decks himself with a garland, And as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.
Preceding this, is clearly a reference to the Messiah:
The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me,
because the LORD has anointed me
to bring good news to the poor;a
he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim liberty to the captives,
and the opening of the prison to those who are bound;b
2to proclaim the year of the LORD’s favor,
and the day of vengeance of our God;
to comfort all who mourn;
3to grant to those who mourn in Zion—
to give them a beautiful headdress instead of ashes,
the oil of gladness instead of mourning,
the garment of praise instead of a faint spirit;
that they may be called oaks of righteousness,
the planting of the LORD, that he may be glorified.c
4They shall build up the ancient ruins;
they shall raise up the former devastations;
they shall repair the ruined cities,
the devastations of many generations.
5Strangers shall stand and tend your flocks;
foreigners shall be your plowmen and vinedressers;
6but you shall be called the priests of the LORD;
they shall speak of you as the ministers of our God;
you shall eat the wealth of the nations,
and in their glory you shall boast.
7Instead of your shame there shall be a double portion;
instead of dishonor they shall rejoice in their lot;
therefore in their land they shall possess a double portion;
they shall have everlasting joy.
8For I the LORD love justice;
I hate robbery and wrong;d
I will faithfully give them their recompense,

9Their offspring shall be known among the nations,

Are these not the Scriptures Jesus read at the beginning of His ministry? :
Luke 4: 16 So He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up. And as His custom was, He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up to read. 17 And He was handed the book of the prophet Isaiah. And when He had opened the book, He found the place where it was written:
18 “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me,
Because He has anointed Me
To preach the gospel to the poor;
He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,[j]
To proclaim liberty to the captives
And recovery of sight to the blind,
To set at liberty those who are oppressed;
19 To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.”[k]
20 Then He closed the book, and gave it back to the attendant and sat down. And the eyes of all who were in the synagogue were fixed on Him. 21 And He began to say to them, “Today this Scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.”
 
So … the coronation of Mary is a reference to her being a queen … In the Davidic Kingdom - the queen was not the wife of the King but the King’s mother … example Bathsheba was Queen when Solomon was King - Bathsheba was Solomon’s mother [who David took for his wife - not under the best of circumstances :rolleyes: - but there you have it]

Thus reflecting on the passages dealing with Jesus being the anointed [Messiah] and heir to the throne is appropriate. Mary is the mother of Jesus, Mary is queen of Heaven precisely because of Jesus.

Mary always points us to Jesus … Mary tells us to “Do whatever He [Jesus] tells us to do” … Mary - like Bathsheba - will take our case before our King because she sits in the mercy seat at the right hand of her Son, our King, our Lord our Savior 👍
