A quote from the british newspaper the Sun.

Now how reliable is this book that will be released?

Is it a true gospel…??

What is the point of relaseing it?

So many questions…i need answers!!!:confused: 😦
 
A. In journalism it’s called a “hook”

B. It’s sensationalism to sell papers

C. Why do you care what their opinion is of “What it will do to christianity”

Why are you so worried? Is your faith so weak?
 
If you really want to shake your faith to it’s foundations read the Nag Hamadi library without proper disposition i.e. date of the material, who wrote them, movements flouishing during those periods, who the major players were etc. (I wouldn’t suggest it)

THE SUN is a British tabloid, similar to the National Enquirer.

You don’t read those newspapers for journalistic integrity or for truth, you read them for entertainment (if you read them at all).

Good faith suggests that we do not impute any dubious emotional motivations to someone’s disagreement.

Why would you care what a gospel from judas would say? He who betrayed Christ with a kiss. Why would you care?!?!

The Sun isn’t as classy as the Enquirer. It’s closer to the Weekly World News.

Your assuming it is Judas Iscariot. It could refer to a Gospel by St. Jude. (though there isn’t one ever mentioned as being written in history that I am aware of by either person)

It should be an interesting read, I haven’t heard of this manuscript before. Gnostic writings are usually fairly intriguing, especially considering the time period and what the church had to contend against.

I can’t wait to read it. Apocryphal/heretical writings always have some sort of value, mostly just for a fun read.
I understand that at the time the Nag Hammadi library was discovered, most scholars did not think it presented an “alternative Christianity” as the best-selling authors do today.
 
Is it just me then who is a little bit exicted about this? I mean say there is something “contraversial” in the gospel, won’t it be a little bit interesting? I am eager to see it - although I do doubt that the content will be interesting at all.

My assumtion is based upon St. Judes Catholic Epistle in the Bible. The Didache referances that Epistle. So I would highly doubt that the same author would also be the author of something that denies deeply held chrisitian beliefs.
 
Tixeront, tranlsated by Raemers, states (A Handbook of Patrology, p. 67): “Besides these Gospels, we know that there once existed a Gospel of Bartholomew, a Gospel of Thaddeus, mentioned in the decree of Pope Gelasius, and a Gospel of Judas Iscariot in use among the Cainites and spoken of by St. Irenaeus (i, 31, 1).”

It is Judas Iscariot. Touche’.
