If you could sum up the Gospel in one verse of Scripture, what would it be?
 
John 1:14. Not a simple one by any means, but I think it perfectly sums up the Gospels.
 
If it must be only one verse:
25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; (St. John 11)

…but it is a toss up between the above and:
7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace (Ephesians 1)

I agree with John 3:16. I also like "The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners.” –1 Timothy 1:15
 
“Surely this man was the Son of God.” (Read by John Wayne)
 
"Apart from Me you can do nothing." John 15:5. That’s the essence of the New Covenant and in fact pretty well sums up the New Covenant prophecy of Jer 31:33-34
 
“Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.” John 6:54

I was going to say John 13:34: “A new commandment I give unto you: That you love one another as I have loved you.”

That tells us how we’re to act among one another, but it doesn’t say anything about Jesus being the way to eternal life. So I didn’t choose it.
 
All the law and the prophets of God hang and depend on the greatest commandments.
 
However, John Wayne did say the phrase as the centurion in “The Greatest Story Ever Told” (1965).
 
John 1:12 Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God
Also,
John 1:14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
