Another verse I have in mind is Romans 5:20
“But where sin increased, grace increased all the more.”

Fhansen,
many thanks for your post, which I was pleased to note as I respect very much your sound, loyal and clear contributions.

Well, thank you, Noel. I’ve appreciated your knowledge as well as your open-mindedness. So there.

A good summary (and short read) of the books of the Bible may be found from St. Thomas Aquinas. See Hic est Liber (currently on the web page it is placed in old testament commentaries) and prologue on his commentary on the letter to the Romans (particularly in n. 11).

They are. We eat bread and drink wine to help us transform ourselves into the image of Christ. His flesh becomes our flesh, his blood become our blood. Essential to understanding the Eucharist.
Respectfully opinion and pondering what you posted and all that is written within His Spoken Word, his preaching and his teaching.

Corinthians 51:50 " I declare to you brothers and sisters, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the Kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable"
So what enters the Kingdom?
Flesh and blood is mortality, which dies, withers, corrupt, is this not a fact? reality and corrupt as Jesus teaches us?

1 Corinthians 15:43 " For this corruptible must put on incorruptible and this mortal must put on immorality". Mortal and Immorality are 2 different things are they not?

Phillipians 3:21 " Who shall change our vile body that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body according to the working whereby he is able to subdue all things unto himself ".

Luke 24-39? Explaining> Spirit hath not flesh and bones.

Galatians 5:19-21? Explains wars against the flesh- derived from Galatians 5:17 " For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit and the Spirit against the flesh and theses are contrary one to the other so that ye cannot do the things that ye would"

Matthew> 16-13-17 Flesh and Blood has not revealed that to you. So who has revealed this to Him? Is it not our Creator, Father>>> An Eternal Living Spiritual Being who does not die?
Who is the Fullness of Love!
1st Commandment>> Love Me with your whole>> Heart Soul and Mind.

1 Peter 2:2 " Like newborn infants, long for the pure, spiritual milk, so that you have tasted that the Lord is good"

My one verse is the verse Jesus did >> “Love your neighbor as you Love yourself” ❤️

2nd as taught in one of our Pope homilies " Do not just rote the Commandments, but live them" ❤️

Peace 🙂

When Jesus spent his time on Earth, he could do nothing greater than live by these commandments. But how did Jesus love all his neighbours as he loves himself? How did Jesus hold out his hands on the cross and still love the man with the hammer? Yet it is my sins that also banged in these nails; I am left with the feeling we should give something back.
Respectfully nicely said, thank you. Indeed agree! Simply and desiring only to be Loved in returned. My yoke is not burdensome nor heavy. Love conquers all. Peace 🙂

I have a deep love for the Eucharist and am not downplaying the importance of the Eucharist in my Catholic faith.

However, for me personally, the Gospel and the Eucharist are not the same.
Respectfully toward, in stating> a very kind reply >>admire one for that!! Peace 🙂

I was going to say John 13:34: “A new commandment I give unto you: That you love one another as I have loved you.”
Respectfully

Jesus teaching us The Way>>with this commandment maybe? But not a new commandment is it?

If we Love Him, we seek to do all that pleases Him, right?

When Jesus walked the earth, He fully obeyed, observed and lived by >>The Commandments and Jesus sought to do all that pleased>> His Heavenly Father >>>>while on earth, that is>>>>>> True Pure Love, is it not and being faithful to His Heavenly Father, in all things?>>showing, teaching us to do the same? Follow Me?

Written is it not? Love only conquers all?

Jesus was he teaching us by showing us, all throughout His daily walk in Life, the only way to>>>>>> Eternal Life, is to become the>> Fullness of Love within us, ( told we have harden hearts of stone>>mention in OT and NT is it not also?

One who truly Loves another, seeks to do all that pleases > The One they Love do they not?
We cannot say we Love Him, if we do not obey His Commandments can we?

Jesus Loved the Father and did all that Pleased Him did he not?

Within Scripture written is it not?> "This is My Son in whom I am well pleased’

Love your neighbor as you love yourself>>>> is not new thou is it?

Jesus along with St Paul, quotes heavily from OT>> one will find this Commandment in >>

Leviticus 19:18 "You shall not take vengeance or bear false witness or bear a grudge against any of your people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself "

Seems to remain a great Commandment, of great concern still in Jesus time to be repeated and taught, does it not?

Not only did Jesus himself fully live by theses 2 Laws, He quotes from, repeats, continues to teach, preach even when He is asked?

What must I do to enter the Kingdom?

Jesus> Answers >

1st Commandment, Love Me with your whole Heart, Soul and Mind and
Love thy neighbor as you love yourself.

Pondering>>
“Love Me with your whole Heart, Soul, Mind and
Love your neighbor as you Love yourself.” Jesus seems to put it also into >>one verse as if the whole Gospel? ❤️

Peace:)

We have to understand that Scripture is Jesus, the Word of God, and so is the Eucharist, both entering and working in different ways. The written and spoken Word enters and informs the mind, which effects change in us. The unspoken Word, God dwelling within, via communion, changes us as well. And that’s the point of the New Covenant, God must indwell, directly, immediately, supernaturally, simply residing where He can work in and nourish us. This is the right order of things for man, a state of justice for him.

What is your point exactly? You have a strange way of writing that I don’t understand.

Well, Jesus, himself, called it a new commandment in John 13:34. Far be it from me to contradict the word of Our Lord!

…33Little children, I am with you only a little while longer. You will look for Me, and as I said to the Jews, so now I say to you: ‘Where I am going, you cannot come.’ 34A new commandment I give you**:** Love one another. As I have loved you, so also you must love one another. 35By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you love one another.”…

So, yes, I would say the commandment was new.

new commandment I give you**:** Love one another.
Respectfully opinion only in pondering and in searching >>>> John 13:34 was written… experts tell us around 110 Ad>>>>>> Jesus died we are told around 33 AD?.

New Commandment to the ears of >>New Converts> gentles at that time, or non believers and others>>> not knowing of >>>>>>>>>The One True God>>>>>>>>>>>> but surely not new to Jesus >>>>>>>>>within His Holy Scripture OT>>>>>>>>>> in which Jesus>> was born in, raised in, fully observed, lived by and heavily quotes from OT>>>>in all His teaching, preaching and in correcting Pharisees, Saduccees in their own teaching >>>>>>>>>>>>when He and even His Apostles at times were brought before them on false chargers of breaking the Torah Laws…

Leviticus 19:18 >>God the author of Scripture within His Spoken Word states other wise and my witness?

Moses goes into great detail in >>His separated teaching on each Commandment >> which was also called >>>The Royal Covenant Laws ( Ten Commandments) >broken into 5 separate Titled Covenants >> being taught and what we have come to know as >>The Ten Commandments>>

But agree with you>>>New to others>>> who never heard or knew about the One True God or that a Messiah was coming to save them or knew the prophecies spoken of by the Prophets of Jesus or ever were taught or heard of The Commandments.

Jews surely did know Ten Commandments within their Holy Scripture OT and even Jesus being ask>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> by a Jew in testing Jesus (if he was the Messiah or speaking the Truth or knew the Torah) asked Jesus>>>>>>>>>>>>> which is the greatest Commandment? Jesus answered?>>>>>Love your neighbor as you Love yourself>>a none Jew or gentle would not know of or to ask that question now would he?

And Jesus, Apostles also were all tested, being falsely charged and brought before the Sandhedrin Counsel, on what they were preaching, teaching, claiming, and questioned on the Laws if broken?

.John Baptist teaching >>>>repent repent and Jesus>>>>> commands His Apostles, St Paul go>>into All Nations, call out, in all walks in Life >>Spread the Good News.

Respectfully toward and thank you for kind reply greatly admire that!! 🙂 Peace 🙂

John was Jesus’ “beloved disciple,” closer to him than even Peter, though both were part of his inner circle. The fact that Jesus said that is not my opinion but the opinion of the many extremely learned theologians and bible scholars I studied under for six years. I’m not qualified to form an opinion like that. Most of them believe the Gospel of John was written between 90-100.

It’s not known exactly when Jesus died or was born, but 33 CE has to be close. I read a paper once whose author believed Jesus was about 50 when he died. I do not believe that myself. I believe he was in his early 30s.

I don’t think we disagree so much as we are getting hung up on semantics. Anyway, I appreciate the information in your posts. Thanks! 🙂
