Recently I’ve been obsessed with the existence of EBEs, or extra terrestrial biological entities… Intelligent life from outer space. Do you all think they are coming back in 2012? According to the Maya, and the Sumerians… the Annunaki are due for a return to our world.

After all, as vast as the universe is… There is no possible way we are alone. It was just proven that e-mc2, other dimensions exist outside of our realm.

They have to be out there, I want to believe.

**You’ve hit the nail on the head. There is no evidence for such beings; you simply want to believe that they exist.

I suggest you read a book by the late Orthodox priest-monk Seraphim Rose ORTHODOXY AND THE RELIGION OF THE FUTURE. It’s available on line.

Fr. Seraphim says that UFOs and the like are a demonic apparition suitable for the late 20’th century techological society.**

I’d be more curious on the question of WHY you want to want to believe. Not “want to believe”, but “want to want to believe”.

The only horror coming back in the year 2012 is another presidential election.:rolleyes:

From the perspective of an atheist (which I am not, and I don’t believe the original poster is either), mankind cannot be alone, at least not if one assumes an infinite universe.

In an infinite universe with no God, everything that has a statistical chance of taking place will eventually take place somewhere. That means life on other planets. Even if that chance is only one in ten trillion, life would have arisen countless times.

When one believes in God, however, than the laws do not necessitate the existence of aliens, as God, not chance, is ultimately in control of events.

You mean, like, bacteria? Yes, there is bacteria outside our tiny little planet.
 
How can you believe in God, but denounce the existence of EBEs?

**Some people might well ask you how you can believe in God and yet insist that EBEs exist.

I see no reason to either believe in the existence of EBEs or to dismiss their possibility out of hand.

Either way, how does this affect the central dogmas of Christianity?

I have a hard enough time discerning God’s will for me step by step to worry about His plans for beings that may, or may not, exist.**
