I am not interested in arguing the point, even though she may have used the comment, as I don’t see pacifism as an anarchist position, just as I don’t see the Church’s position being largely anti-war as anarchist. Nor do I see my classmates who were anti-war, and became conscientious objectors, as anarchists. I think it is more of a misuse of the term when someone is objecting to a specific policy.
I recently did a very fast spin through Robespierre and the overthrow of the monarchy, and while there were many who were trying to provide a structure of law and a constitution, the result was anarchy, as “law” changed almost weekly if not daily, and allies became mortal enemies as matters spun more and more out of control. Mob violence is another aspect of anarchy; not based on any law but rather that of the emotions of the participants.
