The Guf? Angels control us?

It was the first time I had ever discussed anything spiritual or religious with my brother-inlaw. He had some pretty interesting beliefs. Has anyone heard of this stuff before?

**Humans are controlled by angels. We each have an angel that controls us.

All angels are in the “guf”. The guf is like a prison where God hold’s the spirit of angles until he can test them to see if they are good or bad.**

I find it difficult to discuss much of anything with this guy as he invariably goes into the weeds with some off the wall belief. But I’m wondering if anyone has heard of this stuff before.

I know there is a Jewish tradition of the “Guf” or “Guff” but I have a sneaking suspicion that this is some sort of satanic stuff and fear for my sister, who seems ready to turn toward God in some way.

Actually each one of us has a guardian angel. The angel watches over us but doesn’t control us.

Guf is part of a Kabbalistic (sp?) belief that God created everything during the creation, including all the souls of all the humans that will ever live. The belief is that after the room is emptied, the Messiah will come. It spawned into a similar Christian application of the Kabbalah that the Second Coming will occur after the room is emptied. You will see this referenced in Demi Moore’s movie, The Seventh Sign. Also in the anime Neon Genesis Evangelion.

A year back, a lady argued “truth” with me, which she had received from Dan Brown’s books.

That is a sad truth today, that many are “catechized” by the media.
I was discussing with a friend about admonishing sinners and claimed that Christ preached nothing but love and tolerance, a common misconception taught by the media on accepting things like same sex marraige, contraception, abortion. And all these are even based on faulty reasoning by some Protestant denominations.
I proceeded to quote the Gospel on Christ instructing us specifically to admonish sinners.

I sometimes wonder whether GOD has certain poll of souls that must exist in an earthy flesh before we all go to the Judgement day…
