You’re right. I just wrote too fast. I was trying to recall what was done to the temple. I know layers were added after the destruction in 70AD. Just got my dates crossed.

I know Herod did an expansion of the temple in 19BCE. If I remember correctly, the wall that stands today is part of Herod’s expansion. Correct me, if I am wrong.

When I Googled it, it said Herod pretty much tore the whole thing down, but its still considered the 2nd temple because sacrifices continued.

Good to know. It’s been a while since I’ve studied the Temple history. I think most people are aware of the destruction in 70AD, but not much is said about layers added to the Western wall.

Its sad, the Muslims (I’m not generalizing here,) recently dug to place a new electrical line with out consulting archeologists… and just dumped the sediment like worthless dirt 😦
