Brothers & Sisters in Christ,

After speaking with one of the moderators and getting the okay to post this, I would like to let you know about and seek your support for our mission and ministry in Honduras.

I work for a grassroots Catholic lay community/ministry called the Missioners of Christ. We have a permanent mission among the poor in Honduras and work in conjunction with the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal. Our work is mainly discipleship, catechesis and evangelization which is desperately needed, more now than ever, especially with the influx of so many evangelical protestants which are snatching people away from the true Church in droves. Unfortunately there is not much ecumenism or friendship in Honduras between denominations. Most non-Catholic missionaries are out spreading lies about the Church (we are idolators, we worship Mary & the saints, the usual misunderstandings of our faith).

This summer from July 25th thru August 5th I will be leading a short term mission team of adults down to our mission to aid the evangelical and catechetical efforts of our long term missionaries. The specifics of the mission are still being planned but as of right now the main thing we will be doing is going to a village and sharing the Truth of the Catholic faith. At the end of such a mission we try to have a priest come and celebrate Mass and hear confessions (this is huge, because many places only receive the sacraments once or twice a year).

Going out to villages and taking Christ to the people is crucial to our mission of the “new evangelization” announced by JP II. It is so true what Christ says “the harvest is plenty but the laborers are few.” If think you may be called to serve God on a short term mission trip or would like to help in some way, pm me with you email address and I will send you more information.

Whatever you do, please pray for us and for those we serve. Pray that we will be guided by the Holy Spirit and follow God’s awesome and perfect will.

I have included some links with more information as well:

Bless you Esclavo DeCristo,

I took the time to explore the websites you shared and I feel strongly about this ministry.
My daughter has always expressed an interest in doing a mission trip someday. I sent email to individuals at both of the websites you included asking for more detailed information regarding a mission trip.
What a beautiful thing you and the Missioners of Christ, along with the Franciscans are doing for Christ and His Church.

In the Hearts of Jesus through Mary,

Rita

Thanks Rita! God bless you and your family. I’ll be sending you some info this week about the mission.
