Hey Man! How’s the Hippie index where you camp out?

**Read More here **

Hmm, all this time I thought it was vandals who spray painted the neighbors bus in multicolors?

Good grief. Yet another way to classify people and States. Where do they get this stuff?

Strange I don’t see that many folks that I would call Hippie’s unless they include yuppies?!!:p:hmmm:

Hippies tend not to be upwardly mobile, and must therefore migrate to find affordable property. Here in California, former hippie havens like Topanga and Venice have undergone gentrification and hippies are increasingly priced out of the market. Not cool, man.

Texas is actually higher on the list than I thought it would be ^^ I have to say, I’m glad to be living here.

Took me way to long to figure out these scores were calculated. I was wondering how more communes mean less hippiness…and then I realized it’s all average rankings.

There is something wrong with this index.

Cali is a no brainer number one. Berkely and san fran probably have more hippies than the rest of the world combined.

Washington, Oregon, Colorado, Montana can fight for places 2-5.

Maybe Texas creeps in there. But the rest of the country is pretty much equal.

That Idaho cracks the top ten and is one of the most conservative states in the country is telling that there is something wrong with the title of the index.

That being said, having lived in some of those places and now living in Indiana. I miss hippies. A lot. I used to hate them, but now I am finding myself a little jealous of them. I wonder if that is my geography or my age…😃

I think if you could separate out NorCal, it’d be up there for sure. In addition to the Haight Ashbury scene and Berkeley, you’ve got Santa Cruz, the north coast (Humbolt, Marin, etc.), and there are lots of hippie communities in the Sierras.

Well, I’m in one of the larger hippy areas. However, I would say that most of the hippy holdout areas have gone more upscale. There was a brief resurgence of hippy things by the younger set for awhile, but it seems not to have caught on much, at least in terms of the clothing, hair styles and such.
