The history channel always, and I repeat always, does the old bait and switch routine. For this topic (Christian subject matter), they always start out innocently enough and follow the usual Christian road, but then start subtly interjecting falsehoods, becoming more blatant as each quarter hour passes.

Their intent, obviously then, is to lure unsure, unsuspecting Christians to watch the show and give them enough misleading/false info to have them leave or consider leaving Christianity.

God bless you.
It’s too early to pass judgment, don’t you think?

For those of you worried about the History channel adding their “spin” to the series (which is a justified concern) I am pretty sure it is only airing on the History Channel, NOT produced by them. It is however being produced by Roma Downey (from Touched by an Angel) and Mark Burnett (producer of Survivor and The Voice, among other shows).

They showed a special advertisement for the series at the FOCUS conference in Orlando last month. So apparently the series has FOCUS’s blessing… 🤷

Exactly. I can understand the concern, but until we actually see it it’s better if we refrain from making premature statements about its ‘palatability’.

I will also link here to some other videos: interview with Gary Oliver (Abraham), and from the horse’s mouth.

Nope, not on the History Channel - I’ve seen it all before!😉 (pun intended). Watch, and see, then check back! 🙂

Hopefully I am wrong, but we will see I guess!

God bless you.

For those of you who are interested the Bible premiers tonight on the History Channel. This is just a reminder for all of you who are interested. Will anyone be watching?

Yes, I’ll be watching. It looks good. Thanks for the reminder. It starts tonight at 8pm EST on the History Channel.

The History Channel usually cannot be trusted when it comes to anything with Christian faith. But this is different. This miniseries is produced by Roma Downey (from Touched by an Angel) and her husband Mark Burnett who is producer for The Voice, Celebrity Apprentice and Survivor. And the most interesting thing is that the project is true to the Catholic faith. They kept in close touch with Cardinal Weurl (Archbishop of Washington DC) to make sure the stories are portrayed correctly. (heard that in an interview this morning with Raymond Arrayo).

Really? I wrote it off from the start since I know that the History Channel has a tendency to include things that aren’t in the Bible and heretical works alongside the Bible. But if there’s a decent chance at it being done right, it might be worth a watch.

Other posters in other threads sound optimistic. So I’m optimistic. God bless.

It sounds interesting and I’d like to see it, but I don’t have cable. 🤷

Thanks. I plan to try it out, but if I don’t like it, I won’t watch.

I hope the History Channel’s friend Simcha Jacobovici had nothing to do with this series.

He’s been featured on some of the History Channel programs in the past on the subject of the Bible, Biblical times, and Biblical Archeology, and, IMO, he constantly rips on Christianity and its founders.

Mr. Jacobovici directed and hosted along with film director James Cameron ‘The Lost Tomb of Jesus’ which tries to debunk Jesus and Christianity and spread doubt and confusion.

I’ll be watching at least the first part, anything past that I’ll just wait and see.🙂 :gopray:

As I am and I love the History Channel, I study history and history is my life. Those other programs are not anti-Christian they are however, based on pseudo-intellectual theories. The History Channel is probably one of the most Christian friendly networks out there, they used to play Jesus of Nazareth (with historical commentary) all day every Easter and sometimes I still don’t know if they will this year. For those of you who can not access the series either due to not having cable or not having the History Channel among your cable channels, you may be able to access it on Youtube in a few weeks. They are also releasing it on DVD, I think in April so that is another option. Anyway I wouldn’t jump to conclusions just yet, watch and then decide. 😃

You know how hard it is to portray Bible stories without angering half of the Christian world? LOL.

I will definitely be watching and I have my DVR set to record.

I plan on watching it and I’m looking forward to it. I don’t actually have any pre-conceived misgivings.
