I watched it on Lifetime. It was the same as what was shown on History Channel. Strange indeed. I saw it on the menu. Like you I thought it was a mistake but no.
You are absolutely right I noticed it flipping through channels earlier. Wonder why, but it doesn’t matter sounds cool to me. šŸ™‚

Well, anyone watching it now? šŸ˜‰
I watched about the first 40 minutes or so…Turned it off in disgust after watching the ā€œNinja Angelsā€ getting Lot and family out of Sodom.

Thought it interesting that the producers chose to show a very ā€œsexyā€ view of Hagar immediately after Abraham impregnated her, but then also chose not to share the full bible account of the Angels visit to Lot and Lot’s confrontation with the mob…you know - where he offered the mob his daughtersā€¦šŸ¤·
Then - the ā€œNinja Angelsā€ were just the last straw for me…

Note here, I’m not saying that they needed to share the full text of Lot offering his daughters…Skipping that was fine…but for me it was more just an accumulation of what they were and were not doing and showing. I could tell I wasn’t going to be happy…

I might look in on it again when it gets closer to the incarnation…

Peace
James

Now as a (self-proclaimed) Bible film geek the ā€˜ninja angels’ piques my interest. šŸ˜‰

For those who missed it…it will re air tomorrow night (Wednesday) at 9 pm. Not sure, but I think eastern time.

I plan on recording and watching it then.

i noticed it was on lifetime last night also. i watched the first hour again. i think i will be more interested when we get to the new testament part. the stories of the old testament are well known - but not as meaningful to me as when Jesus comes into the world.

I saw enough of this series not to like it. I don’t think that some things presented are
Scripturally correct and I do not like the way it is presented. Too modernized for me!

Agreed! However, I like it a lot so far and have no complaints only that it should be 15 hours instead of 10 in order to tell the stories in greater detail. I read in the Hollywood Reporter that one of the criticisms of this film was that it puts too much emphasis on the Gospels, so I guess you won’t be disappointed.

Just by seeing the commercial I expect this film to be historically inaccurate and biased towards evangelical/Baptists.

The ad shows Jesus being baptized by immersion, so far so good. But it shows him being laid down in the water and then being picked up. That is I think a modern invention by the Baptists.

I was baptized as an adult in the Russian Orthodox church and I knelt in the water and the priest pushed my head down into the water. The Catholics and Orthodox began baptism by immersion, and I have seen other adult immersions in both churches as well as Eastern Catholics.

Never once have I seen anyone immersed Baptist style by laying him down and picking him up. Except in Baptist/evangelical type churches.

Since when have films become ā€œhistorically accurateā€? And this coming from someone who likes to nitpick that sort of stuff. 😃

Hi!!

Last nite I watched ā€œThe Bibleā€ replayed on Life Time with the family. I liked it!! I especially loved the ā€œWelcome Home Catholicsā€ commercial!😃

I love that commercial it is a wonderful reminder of all the good the Church does in the world. Not to mention it’s positive impact on science, education, literature, etc. Since sunday I must have played it at least four times on Youtube.

Being that I have a trail membership I don’t think I can post links. I tried doing so a while back and was automatically prevented. Just go to Youtube and type ā€œCatholics Come Home commercialā€ in the search engine and you should get it. It’s the one that’s 2 minutes and 8 seconds I think. Good luck!

The one that really hit me - was THIS ONE.

It just broke my heart…for I see too much of myself in it.

Peace
James
