The normalization and popularization of homosexuality in modern society has engendered a new set of stereotypes, principally of homosexuals as normal people in loving same-sex relationships for which they seek a secular blessing of marriage.
The Catholic Chruch’s position on homosexuality is that it is an unnatural and therefore disordered and sinful behavior. Many people today, Catholics included, wonder why the Church is so strongly opposed and why the OT is so emphatic about the abomination of homosexuality.
It might be helpful, therefore, to consider the history of pedarasty.
Pedarasty refers to sexual relations between an older man and an adolescent (put post-pubescent) boy. (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pederasty)
But there is more to pedarasty than simply men having sex with boys. Pedarasty is a subculture distinguished by the adoration of masculity and a disdain for feminine qualities. It is therefore very popular within warrior cultures. Imagine not effeminate men but men so infatuated with masculinity that they want nothing to do with women.
Homosexual advocates are quick to cite ancient Greece as a society that tolerated, even venerated, homosexuality. What is usually not mentioned is that what the Greeks practiced was principlally pedarasty. In fact, pedarasty was a common practice throughout the ancient world but it is best documented by the Greeks. (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pederasty_in_ancient_Greece)
The Spartans were famously pedarasts, even among the Greeks. It was part of their warrior culture. Spartan boys would be assigned to older men as part of their military education and it was simply a given that this was a sexual relationship. Men generally did not live with their wives until they were past the age of educating younger Spartans.
Perhaps the most interesting case of pederasty was Nazi Germany. Pedarasty was an essential element of the cauldrin of ideologies that became what we know of as Nazism. The early Nazis idolized the Greek warrior culture and masculinity. Part of the reason for its anti-semitism and anti-Christianity was precisely that these religions valued feminine qualities and valued women beyond their child-bearing and child-raising capacity.

The Nazis drew a sharp distinction between masculine homosexuality, which they largely tolerated, and in some cases encouraged, to the end, and effeminate homosexuality, which they persecuted.
In modern America, pederasty is generally hidden from the public eye but there is at least one organization, NAMBLA (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nambla), that openly advocates for it and the practice. And most of the Catholic priest scandals have involed cases of pederasty.
