I want to ask a Question: Is there a verse in the Bible about Dinosour? Behind the hard evidence of existence?

If none : Why God not included the dinosour to his creations in the bible?

When I was a fundie, they used to claim “behemoth” in Job was a dinosaur. And the discription does sound like a brontosaur. But, that’s all speculation, we simply don’t know.

No. Because the Bible wasn’t written as a scientific encyclopedia to tell us every detail we ever wanted to know. It was written to show mans relationship to God and how that relationship went from severed to whole ultimately through Christ. The existence of dinosaurs really isn’t that important compared to that truth.

Of course, the Bible says God created all the creatures in the sea and land, so of course that would INCLUDE dinosaurs. But they’re not the center of the story, we are, so that’s what the Bible is concerned with.

I’m no Genesis scholar, but I’d point out that in the first creation story, God spreads the creation of animals over two days, the fifth and the sixth. To me this implies and aligns with the reality that there was vibrant and diverse animal life on the planet before humanity existed.

This is a question that can be easily answered by pure common sense: do you think that a person who lived during the middle ages could have refered to airplanes with the word “airplane”? No right, because that person’s vocabulary lacks the word airplane and that person has never seen an airplane so the person doesn’t even know what an airplane is. Now, let’s say that person from the middle ages has a vision that involves an airplane, how do you think he is going to describe it? Most likely as a flying monster for the simple reason that he doesn’t have any idea what is that thing in the air si he is going to try to describe it with the words that are available to him and within his knowledge.

Same principle applies to the Bible. Do you think that the person who wrote the Bible knew what the word “dinasour” meant? Of course no, so that is why you are not going to find dinasour in the Bible because asking the writer of the Bible to include the word dinasours is like asking a middle ages’ person to talk about airplanes. How do you think a person who lived over 3,000, with the language knowledge of 3,000 years ago, is going to describe a dinasour? He is going to call it …a BEAST!!! And the Bible does say that God created all beasts! So right there you have all the dinasours you were looking for.

And that is only a logical explanation, the second part is that the writer of the Bible’s intent is not to give you a history, science or geography class. The subject of dinasours to him is totally irrelevant as his intention is to talk about God. What he wants you to know is that God crates everything therefore all he needs to do is to say that God created all beasts without going into any further details.

In Genesis God created creatures of all kinds. It doesn’t record many specific creatures and doesn’t name all the species but I think dinosaurs would be covered under .verses 21,22,24 and 25.

20 God said, ‘Let the waters be alive with a swarm of living creatures, and let birds wing their way above the earth across the vault of heaven.’ And so it was.

21 God created great sea-monsters and all the creatures that glide and teem in the waters in their own species, and winged birds in their own species. God saw that it was good.

22 God blessed them, saying, ‘Be fruitful, multiply, and fill the waters of the seas; and let the birds multiply on land.’

23 Evening came and morning came: the fifth day.

24 God said, ‘Let the earth produce every kind of living creature in its own species: cattle, creeping things and wild animals of all kinds.’ And so it was.

25 God made wild animals in their own species, and cattle in theirs, and every creature that crawls along the earth in its own species. God saw that it was good.

Let’s see how many of the hundreds of thousands of animal species are specifically listed in Genesis. Not very many. Nothing about microscopic life either. In fact, it all seems quite general in nature. Such as the “fish of the sea”, which could include sea life that is not a fish (whale, turtle, dolphin, octopus). You just can’t use the Bible to describe or explain the natural world. That is not it’s purpose.

Try a slightly different question:

Is there a verse in the Bible about America? Behind the hard evidence of existence?

If none: Why God not included America to his creations in the Bible?
The Bible does not list everything, no kangaroos and no Australia either. Many of the planets are not mentioned. The Bible is a religious textbook, not an encyclopaedia.

The Bible does not mention dinosours because the Bible teaches how to go to heaven, not how the heavens go. 🙂

When I want to learn about animals and dinosaurs, the last book I would turn to is the Bible. There are other books and encyclopedias that would help you in that area. I use the Bible as a spiritual guide to God.

If your focus of the Bible is to prove that dinosaurs and certain animals existed at certain time points, you are missing the point of having the Bible.

Yep

Thank you to all of your answer. 🙂

But im just came up the idea that in genesis we are eternal right? Because Adam and Eve did not disobey God after the creation so they live several years i think. So i used to think that Adam and Eve use to live together with the dinosour in the Garden of Eden wuth them. hmm? Until the flood comes and all creatures died then all if their body was spread all over the world.

I’m sorry to disappoint you here, but brontosaurs never existed. apatosaurs, on the other hand, did.

Have you read Song of Solomon? Do you think his lover REALLY had a neck like an ivory tower or breasts like twin gazelle? Methinks that’s one funny lookin’ lady! Or it’s poetic description.

The prehistoric portions of Genesis are also poetic descriptions of the fact that God made all creation for man to live in, that man is in His image and likeness, that we commited Original Sin and have since been plagued by the consequences, that we desperately need a Savior. The Adam and Eve accounts reflect theological truths, not biology lessons, just as Solomon’s descriptions reflect his feelings, not anatomical descriptions of his lover.

Thankfully, God is a smart guy! He could well see that humanity would develop its technological and scientifically far faster than our ability to use it wisely, so in revelation He didn’t give us any head starts on that end. As usual, He gave us what we needed to know without giving information that would be harmful to us. Exactly what you would expect from a God who loves his creation and wants his people to love Him without coercion.

“God also said: Let the waters bring forth the creeping creature having life, and the fowl that may fly over the earth under the firmament of heaven. And God created the great whales, and every living and moving creature, which the waters brought forth, according to their kinds, and every winged fowl according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. And he blessed them, saying: Increase and multiply, and fill the waters of the sea: and let the birds be multiplied upon the earth. And the evening and morning were the fifth day.” Genesis 1: 20 - 23

Assume that evolution is essentially correct. You can fit the age of dinosaurs in the fifth day. The first creatures leave the ocean, for land (Waters brought forth). There were living and moving creatures, and great whales. Dinosaurs? Then the day ends with winged fowls, he blesses the birds, that they could multiply on the earth. This could be the end of the dinosaurs, which evolved into … birds! So this “day” was a long age that started with the first creature to crawl onto land with legs, and ends with the dinosaurs becoming birds. Then the next age is ready for mammals and man.

I’m more interested in why you chose “The Serpent” to identify yourself.
