In previous ages, the Holy Father had allot of influence in the government options.

Now today why can’t the pope influence the laws of a country. Example same-sex union in most catholic countries?

Any information would be helpful 🙂

Look around the Globe. You will see that there is no moral authority today.
Except fot the Pope.
He went to Madrid and there were there 1.5 million young people. Who could gather such a crowd, remembering that he is not particularly handome, starlike style ot whatever.
In medieval times the Pope had authority, not only moral, but also political and even military. thanks to God those times are over.
Now, I think the Pope has more authority then in the old times for He addresses a bigger crowd, non-Catholics included.
Every candidate to President mus have a photographo with him so they queue up to get an audience.
In today’s world th Pope is the only becon of ligh!

Thank you for that. What about the catholic states, that approves laws, that’s against church law. Should the Holy Father have a say about that?

The Holy Father does speak on the Morality of most all issues. More particularly, The Catecism of the Catholic Church is the Massive Book on Every possible Issue, with The Catholic Teaching/Reasoning on it, With Bible and Early Church Fathers documentations, and logic.

But not to the extend as it was before? please correct me if I am wrong:)

As to the turning point in governments attitude toward the truths taught in faith and thus in listening to Pope, study “The French Reveloution”.

If you listen Every Sunday to the Pope’s Message which is many times quoted around the globe, He gives opinions about almost everything which happens in the world.

In the Medieval ages, the Pope had moral authority and an army. No, for the better, he lost the army, has got the tiniest country in the World and has a superb moral authority.

Many times the countries do not like his internetions, but he neverthelesee speaks. I remember the magazine TIME, surprised by th crowds that came to see the Pope in the States, wondered: “But is anybody paying any attention to what this Man is saying!”. What the reporter was saying is that the Pope was saying the most impopular things and yet, gathering huge crowds.

He was surprised for the politians must say what the pople like to hear… if they can get elected.

I suspect, if I am wrong, that the same happend with Protestant churches. They adapt too much to what the audience likes otherwise they will be with enpty pews. The Pope is not in this business. He is prepared to give is life for the Word of God and he will never bakc up.

I’m not sure why it is for the better that he lost his army and the Papal States. If I had my way, I would make the Italian-Papal borders as to those before 1860, it would give the Holy Father more recognition and would be a sanctuary for Catholics looking for sanctuary from all around the world.

Bl Pope Pius IX, Don’t wish that, please !!!
Thanks to God the pope lost the Holy States, a source of confusion, corruption an greed. Let’s remember the Borgia’s who were one of the causes of the Reformation (which was a bad solution either)
What the pope has is more than enough. St. peter and the first 300 years-Popes had nothing but persecutions.
Thus, he can concentrate on what matters: the work of God.
First things First.

The Pope does have influence. However, it’s less than it once was.

You may exaggerate how much influence the Pope had in the past, though. It’s always been tough to get governments to listen. And to be fair, Popes have done their share of politicking at times, which hasn’t helped their credibility.

That is terrible! They waged WAR against Our Holy Father, and you thank God for it? Please, help me understand as you do. It may have contributed to greed and corruption, but if you ignore the actual fruits that were born from the Papal States, that isn’t very good at all.The Borgia’s counted as one Pope. Yet, you ignore many fine Popes that lived proudly in the Papal States.

Though we must concentrate on the work of God, the resurrection of the Papal States would be an assett to it. A refuge for persecuted Catholics. A haven from sin and vice. In this modern world, a Papal State would thrive. If the Sovereign Military Order of Malta can have a military - so can the Papal States. To fight for what is right.

For political prisoners who need asylum? The Papacy is there. I pray for its return, and hopefully in my lifetime. And if there were to be a call to arms for it? I would gladly give my life.

Of course, it must be made sure that it would not turn to corruption, but I doubt that could happen today.

Modern day people accept protestantism… But I am still sure that its still a heretical practise. Well lets pray for the true church to rise again. Bless u brother:)

There are modern states today that don’t have an army and they’re doing well, I don’t know why anybody would advocate for the Vatican to have one. That’s not only a horrible idea, but a complete waste of money and resources.

Why is no one ready to fight for there religion any more?

What would this proposed Vatican army do? Invade countries that have legalized abortion? Have special forces unit to rescue religious prisoners?

How would the Church pay for it?

Not only is the idea ridiculous AND dangerous, but it’s practically impossible.

Well we or you consider this as “ridiculous and dangerous” BECAUSE we are to liberal, and we are influenced by the devil to much. We should stop being influenced by him and see the true duty we have to for Christ, and not a country
