Beautiful music 🙂

The Pope is beginning to appear older and more tired…😦

The Pope is beginning to appear older and more tired…😦
so we pray for him, as we pray in the East, while he is in Lebanon

May God grant His most faithful servant, Pope Benedict XVI, peace, health and happiness as he labors in Christ’s vineyard.

Moleben (Devotional Prayer Service) for Special Intentions
[Byzantine Catholic - Ruthenian usage (private form)]

Glory to You, O God, glory to You!

Heavenly King, Comforter, Spirit of Truth,
everywhere present and filling all things,
Treasury of Blessings and Giver of Life,
come and dwell with us, cleanse us of all stain,
and save our souls, O gracious One.

Holy God, Holy and Mighty, Holy and Immortal, have mercy on us.
Holy God, Holy and Mighty, Holy and Immortal, have mercy on us.
Holy God, Holy and Mighty, Holy and Immortal, have mercy on us.

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,
now and every and forever. Amen.

Most Holy Trinity, have mercy on us;
Lord, cleanse us of our sins;
Master, forgive our transgressions;
Holy One, come to us and heal our infirmities for Your Name’s sake.

Lord have mercy! Lord have mercy! Lord have mercy!

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,
now and every and forever. Amen.

Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name;
thy kingdom come; thy will be done;
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but delivery us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom, and the power and the glory,
Father, Son and Holy Spirit, now and ever and forever. Amen.

Have mercy on us, O Lord, have mercy on us;
since we have no defense,
we sinners offer this supplication to You, our Master;
have mercy on us!

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit …

Lord have mercy on us,
for in You we place our hope.
Be not exceedingly angry with us,
nor mindful of our transgressions,
but look upon us even now with mercy,
and deliver us from our enemies.
For You are our God and we are your people:
we are the work of your hands,
and we call upon your name
.

… now and ever and forever, Amen.

Open unto us the doors of mercy,
O blessed Theotokos.
Let us not perish who place our trust in you,
but rather through you be delivered from misfortune,
for you are the hope of all Christians
.

O Lord our God, hear our supplication and, through your grace, have mercy on your High Priest Pope Benedict XVI. Grant all his petitions and pardon all his voluntary and involuntary sins. Accept his supplications and charitable deeds before the throne of your majesty. Safeguard him from every visible and invisible enemy, from every misfortune, distress and affliction. Spare him from illness and grant him health and long life.

Loving Lord, look down with merciful eyes upon your servant, your High Priest Pope Benedict XVI, and hear the supplication that we have offered up with faith. For You yourself have said: Believe that you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer and it will be yours. You also said: Ask and you will receive. Because of this, unworthy as we are, we trust in your mercy and ask that You be merciful to your servant, your High Priest Pope Benedict XVI, and fulfill his good desires. Keep him in peace, tranquility, and health, and grant him long life.

For You are a merciful and loving God, and we give glory to You, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, now and ever and forever. Amen!

Goodness! I just read an article on huffingtonpost about the Pope’s recent call for religious freedom while at Lebanon and made the mistake of reading through the hundreds of comments.

After that, I really have a hard time believing anyone outside the Church likes us even a teeny bit.

Anti-religious people are no different than the typical fundamentalist religious sects with their closed minds, unwillingness to look at facts where they may show your opponent favourably (or less evil than you had presumed) and just plain lack of good education and sensibility with regards to History and Religion. Except the anti-religious are worse in that they think they are so clever and educated. What a poisonous thirty minutes! Urgh!

Back to the topic now, I just needed to vent somewhere I was sure that rabid hatred against my church and Christianity in general was not actively promoted. 😦

Consider the source and audience. The Huffington Post is not exactly CC friendly …

Joe, this is such an important event. The Western Catholic Church meets the Eastern Catholic Chuches. Up until now, the Latin Church has paid so little attention to the Eastern sister churches (my opinion). Perhaps now things will change. But for now I continue with my Byzantine Catholic Church in White Plains.
Glory to Jesus Christ! Glory to Him forever! Slava Isusu Christu!

I absolutely love that photo of the Holy Father surrounded by his brother bishops, metropolitans, and priests of various Eastern Catholic churches. I sincerely hope and pray that some might be ORTHODOX! It is my prayer as well as Jesus’ prayer that we all be ONE as Christ and His church are ONE. Let us put aside our differences and let us all act as ONE.
