I like to look at faith history in a time line. We know that Jesus had to be born under the law to fulfill the law (Matthew 5:17, Galatians 4:4). Since Judaism had been banned under penalty of death by the Seleucid Kings, their empire had to be overthrown and the Temple re-dedicated in time for Christ to be born. 100+ years seems like a long span of time to us, but is a mere eyeblink to God.
