As catholics, we must do what we can too get others lnvolved in saying the the rosary.

OUR LADY told the children at Fatima too say the rosary do penance and sacrfices for

lost soul,s or many people well end up in hell. Since then, people are turning away from

going to church, familys are not together praying or saying the rosary as a family. To

day people are worry about what pleases them more than worring about the salvation

of there soul .The people have had often time too change, but unless they do ,we are in

danger, For OUR LADY said that if man continue not too change, there well be worst

wars, and worst natural disaster too come.It has be said that tears have been coming

from statues of OUR LADY, because of the way the world is turning out,and all the suffering that her son Jesus went threw for us. May GOD have Mercy on us.
GOD BLESS

Hi johnthebaptist1,

You are exactly right! Every time Our lady has appeared in an apparition she has basically told us the same thing: She wants us to pray the rosary as a family if possible, but if not, then to pray the rosary by ourselves, because it is our weapon against the evil in this world. She has also told us to do penance not only for ourselves but for all the people that are running amok in this fast paced world .

So what do we do? We do all the things that you mentioned here. Many times we miss Mass for inconsequential reasons, some of us may not even know where their rosary is, and as to doing penance, I find that many of us don’t even know what it means never mind taking an active part in actually making reparation for ours and others sins. And yet this is what Mary has told us to do!

“johnthebaptist1,” you said: For OUR LADY said that if man continue not too change, there well be worst wars, and worst natural disaster too come

And Johnthebaptist1, you are right on target! One of the most recent Apparitions of Our Lady has been in Kibeho, Rwanda. You see, in Rwanda, a racial battle of hatred, not much different than what Hitler brought about; caused the Blessed Mother to address the issue and tell the people that if they did not turn from their hatred and repent and forgive that terrible things would happen in their country. Well, evidently there were too few that listened to that message and followed it, so a little over 12 yrs. later Rwanda experienced the most terrible genocide and over a million innocent men, women and children, even babies were literally hacked to pieces with machetes until the country literally ran with blood. Because of this literal fulfillment of the prophesy given by Our Lady to the Visionaries, three of the Visionaries have already been approved by the Vatican.

I say all that to say this;…Mary told the children that what she was teaching them wasn’t just for Rwanda, it was for all of her children in the whole world. Given the fact of the genocide in Rwanda, who is to say that such a thing cannot happen here? Who of us wants to take that chance?

So johnthebaptist1, If you would like to know more about Our Lady of Kibeho, scroll up this page and look for the word “groups” and click on it. That will take you to a page where you can type in; “Apostles of Our Lady of Kibeho.” Finding this group has been an eye-opening experience for me!

I read about the judgement on the apparitions of Kibeho here: ewtn.com/library/MARY/OLKIBEHO.HTM I had never heard about this before!

I agree with you, Johnthebaptist1. This is what the world has known for over 90 years, but apparently millions aren’t getting the message. We should pray that those who are ignorant to the power of the Rosary and penitential prayer learn of it, and those Catholics that do know and are dragging their feet on matters of prayer start doing it for the sake of themselves and of all mankind.

What makes people think the rosary is not being prayed?

Are there statistics on this?

One would assume that if the rosary were prayed more often (with, of course, genuine Christian faith and devotion), the world would be in a much better state, much like we could assume that if any form of good Christian prayer were prayed more often in like manner, the world would show the results of it.

I’m not aware of official statistics, though - I’m not sure it was anything that anyone ever tried measuring. I think it would be difficult at best to try, though.

*Dear Hesychios,

Lycorth beat me to it, but he said basically what I was thinking. If you believe your faith, then you should be familiar with the promises given to Catholics who regularly pray the rosary. Trust me,…if faithful Catholics were praying the rosary as Mary has asked repeatedly, then we would be looking at a totally different world, instead of one teetering on the brink of Catastrophe.

Some Catholics believe that the rosary is old fashioned and was intended for the old folks who were next door to being illiterate. They feel that it is boring and not as attractive as say, the more spontaneous prayers of the Evangelicals. Unfortunately, every time we attempt to go off on our own because we are among “the more enlightened,”…we usually fall on our face. There is a reason that Mary continues to ask that we pray it instead of another kind of prayer altogether.

There is also the fruit that begins to grow in the lives of those who pray the rosary regularly! And if its growing in our lives, then its growing in the lives of others that pray the rosary. So, while I don’t have any hard statistics, you will usually have a good idea if you are active in your own parish. And the percentage of people praying the rosary is usually very small when measured to the total membership of an entire parish.

It’s presumptive to assume the rosary could change everything evil in the world, God has a plan and it is in motion. I pray the rosary nearly every day, only miss a few times a year, but I pray expecting only to receive that which God has planned for me, hopefully comfort if not total relief.

*"Hi Bob Aliano,

There is no churchwide census, and there are various criteria for determining membership. However, the Roman Catholics in the world are estimated to be about half the total number of Christians and make the church one of the largest religions in the world, with more than 1 billion adherents." answers.encyclopedia.com/question/many-catholics-there-world-95947.html*

All I was saying was that if all of the Catholics were praying the rosary regularly, and there are promises given to those who do so,…then by virtue of the fact of sheer numbers of those receiving those graces, they would then have an effect on the world’s troubles. I did not remember saying that there would be no trouble. Even Scripture says that “man is born unto trouble as the sparks fly upward.” (Job 5:7)

From the looks of the news, I would rather weigh in on the side of those praying the rosary! 👍

Vatican wants to clamp down on fake apparitions

According to a 2003 Vatican yearbook, between 1905 and 1995 there were 295 claimed apparitions but only 11 were considered genuine. Many of the rest were said to be human trickery.

The most recent local, widely-publicised apparition claim was that of Anġelik Caruana, who insists he has frequent visions of the Virgin Mary, and whose case attracted a cult following. He had also claimed to have a statue of the Virgin Mary who was weeping blood, which was later found to be his own.

In Malta, only three cases of apparitions have been reported and of these only one, that of Mr Caruana, reached the stage of being investigated by a joint commission between the Holy See and the Archdiocese. (and yet he said the statue was weeping blood when all along the blood was really his. He doesn’t sound very credible to me.)

*So, johnthebaptist, it would be wise to not be so involved with the apparitions at Malta until the Vatican has time to check it all out. Use the link above to read the entire article!

This is just circular logic.
  • Some apparition/vision/dream says: … IF you don’t pray the rosary enough, bad things will happen.
  • Bad things happen, ergo we must not be praying the rosary enough!
What you are telling me that is the world is just as disappointing a place as it has ever been and no one really knows how many rosaries have been prayed.

Actually, I prefer to listen to such real luminaries as the eminent Catholic thinker Chesterton, who said "Christianity has not been tried and found wanting; it has been found difficult and not tried. "

Mohandas Gandhi observed about us many years ago: "I like your Christ. I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ… "

So I have to ask myself “is it the ones who pray the rosary who become better Christians, or is it the better Christians who pray the rosary?” Of the soldiers who brought so much death and destruction to China in the past two centuries many carried rosaries in their pockets, undoubtedly to save their souls, but judging from their legacy it is an open question as to whether they intended to carry Christ with them.

The ministry of Jesus the Christ was a healing message, a Good News. He didn’t come passing out prayer beads (nor bullets), and He didn’t write any books. He taught in private and He taught in public places and He healed the sick, often with the greatest compassion and insights to share. We need to put on Christ, to be, as much as possible like Him.

That’s what He taught us to do, and that should be our focus. We do not need to look for signs and seek messages, the message of Christ is so simple an illiterate child could do what He asks. Saint Francis is believed to have said in his version of Italian in those days and places “preach the Gospel every day, if necessary use words”. Was he right? I like to think so.

I think that if we followed Saint Francis’ advice with or without the rosary this world would be a much better place, but it will never be a perfect place until Christ comes once again.

It is very modern to concern oneself with what all or everyone should do. We see the media and have a union with the world through technology but we have a disconnect with those directly in contact with us. This direct contact is where we are to work as well as concentrate on ourselves.

We may pray the rosary everyday but is praying the rosary a way to get God’s Grace or is God’s Grace prior to and thus the cause of devotion to the Blessed Virgin and Her Rosary? Thomism, the preeminent philosophy of the Church, says grace is required prior, as it is God Who moves us “to will and to accomplish, according to His good will” Phil 2:13.

Maybe it is God’s Will that some are to be concerned with a macro-evangelicalism and ministry, but it is distinctly modern to see the world as a unity instead of a group of individuals, and it is only accidental (in scholastic terms) that we are grouped into bands, groups, or tribes. We then think of others in terms of them and us with a need to get “us” to save “them”.

It is the individual that is judged and It is the individual that we come into spiritual contact with in a direct and effective way. This is where the rosary helps us and we can pass this on to every “one” we meet. This keeps us from losing hope, since we know from the Book of Revelation that at some point the world listens to the Antichrist instead of God. It is our listening to the Holy Spirit and following Him, with prayer and sacrifice for others, that we help all the individuals in the “world”.

As with any devotion - what good is it if it isnt practised. We are called as Christians to propagate devotion to the Holy Rosary. Take Pope Leo the XIII for example. He wrote 13 Encyclicals regarding Devotion to the Holy Rosary. If it were a non issue - why bother?

The miracle at Lepanto being one of the greatest miracles in Catholic History is directly attributed to the Holy Rosary.

Our Blessed Mother has made 15 promises to all those devoted to her Rosary including the Graces needed to save our Soul.

Personally , I really dont see a negative in this devotion. Meditating on the Life of Jesus in prayer.
