In mormonism you must have a body to become a god. You have to go through all the masonic temple ceremonies, pay your 10%, not drink coffee etc. No body means no godhood.
BUT mormonism teaches that the Holy Spirit has never had a body and doesn’t have one. He is pure spirit. Therefore he cannot be a god according to mormonisms own doctrine. Yet they call him one anyway. Smith obviously didn’t think this one through.
