In The Book of Zechariah, Chapter 10, Verse 8 declares:
Then I shall make the House of Judah mighty and the House of Joseph victorious.

Please define The House of Joseph.
:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Would this be Joseph, one of the 12 sons of Jacob, in Genesis?

What’s with the :rolleyes: ?

The house of Joseph are the tribes of Ephraim and Manasseh, and this term, or simply “Ephraim” was used as a shorthand to refer to the Northern Kingdom of Israel.

The house of Judah of course is the Southern Kingdom, ruled by the house of David.

The House of Joseph is “conterminous” with the Israelite Northern Kingdom.

From the footnotes in the New American Bible, Revised Edition:
  • [10:6] The house of Joseph: represents the Northern Kingdom (Israel), as does Ephraim in v. 7 below. (source)
When the United Kingdom of Israel was divided in two into the Southern Kingdom of Judah and the Northern Kingdom of Israel, much of the Northern Kingdom of Israel was made up the portion of the Promised Land allotted to the descendants of Joseph’s sons, Manasseh and Ephraim.

Re bold/red, the Southern Kingdom also contained the tribe and territory of Dan.

Dan was the smallest tribe.
