When I posted this request, we were still in the ER. A long, sleepless night
The Husband is in pain from his back, and we’re both achy and sore but happy to be alive. While this vacation is obviously not going as we had planned, at least we’re surrounded by loving, supportive family who are sympathetic and quick to assist us in any way they can. How much more difficult all of this would be if we had chosen to vacation in a place where we didn’t know anyone.
We’re hoping The Husband will be sufficiently recovered in a week and a half for us to return home as scheduled, but if that ends up being impossible we won’t have to worry about a place to stay until he can travel because we’re at my parents’ house and can remain here as long as necessary.
The folks back home have been very supportive as well. We’re really blessed.
Remembering all of you and your intentions in my daily prayers.

Thank you again for your prayers. The Husband is in less pain as long as he doesn’t lie down. This isn’t a problem where we are, since my parents have a chair suitable for sleeping in. We have no such chair in our own home and can’t get one for two days after our return. 
Due to an airline strike in France
we may not be able to leave the US as scheduled, and even if we can fly out as planned we’ll be welcomed in Paris by a train strike. 
I’m not looking forward to traveling under these conditions with The injured Husband. Praying that it will all work out somehow.
