Sorry, one last annoying question. 🙂 I know that Mary was shielded from original sin at the moment of her conception. However, my question is, was she stained at conception, and then immediately cleansed, or was she never stained at all? Thanks!

And if she was never stained at all, would she have been, effectively, a pre-fall human?

Mary wasn’t stained at all from Original Sin and then cleansed. She was conceived without the original sin and thus doesn’t have the fallen nature. Think of original sin as a mud puddle you fall into but then you are taken out and wiped clean at Baptism. But you sitll have the fallen nature because you did fall into the muddle so you sin but you are wiped clean. Mary did’nt fall into the puddle, God prevented that at her concepion. Thus Mary didn’t have the fallen nature and can’t sin and experience the effects of fallen nature. She was full of grace.

May the peace of Christ be with you.

Mary wasn’t stained at all from original sin and then cleansed. God prevented that at the Immaculate Conception. People are born with original sin but then are cleansed through Baptism but they still have that fallen nature. Think of Original Sin as a mud puddle. You fall into it but you are taken out and wiped clean at Baptism. But you still did fall into the mud puddle and thus still have the fallen nature but you are wiped clean at Baptism. The Fallen nature is the effects of the original sin and causes you to commit personal sin. God prevented Mary from falling into the puddle, thus she doesn’t have the fallen nature and didn’t commit sin. She was full of grace.
