Just got home from seeing it. Loved it. Jack-Jack steals the show.

I can confirm the post about the strobe light effects. One such effect went on for longer than it needed to, IMHO. Even I, a non-epileptic, was slightly annoyed by it. But that’s my only criticism.

Hope U’all realize it’s Godless dreck / mindrot for the kiddies.
Why pollute your mind with such stuff ??
There’z NO delete key
I’ve never seen a better post/handle combination … perfect! Dooms day is upon us!!

Yes!! I wish they would put an epilepsy warning by the poster or something like they do for live theatre. I have an epileptic friend I had to call up before she went to see the movie. I ended up describing the scene that had the most intense strobe effect well enough where she was still able to go see it and just cover her eyes during that part, but my mind went immediately to if she had seen it opening night like I had with no clue that was about to happen…

That being said, awesome movie! Enjoyed it a lot! Very wholesome and fun 🙂

i’m NO leg puller, Bro. I hope ALL dem silly kiddie movies TANK.
always disappointed when they make big $$$.
You’ll have flashbacks to scenes for years to come

Is this the one where Thor, Captain America, Hulk and other meet together for some fun and war against one of the respective evil characters of the stories “they came from”? Because there are so many superhero movies out there I lose track.

I would agree, took a long weekend off and came back thinking there might be some cool topic that I could help out with, this movie thread was interesting, it was a great and fun movie, nothing more, nothing less.

Agree, I find the value of these forums less and less, the disparity, the indifference, the selfishness … oh, that’s right, we’re all humans that want to be right and have an unalienable right to be right all the time.

sigh

maybe

ah well, but the movie was fun, my 7 & 8 year old daughters loved it.

there was no foul language

there was no nudity

there was no pornography

there was no demonic promotions

there was no racial discrimination

there was no abortion, rape, or other major immoral stuff

okay, there was a fictional bad guy stealing fictional money from a fictional bank to portray a bad character, but the bad guy was kinda cute.

Oh My, I just “got” it … screen slaver, how did I miss that? LOL

Interesting point about the solipsistic nature of today’s comic book writers. I read a book recently by Simon Reynolds titled ‘Retromania’ (published in 2011) which made the point that in contemporary music as well, bands make reference in their music to other, more iconic bands and seem unable to come up with anything new, and that lack of a broader reference point makes up a key quality of the cultural moment we are living through. So as with bands, comics. Reynolds doesn’t think this is a good thing, incidentally.

There is nothing wrong with watching The Incredibles. You may not want your loved ones to watch it because it troubles your conscience but don’t condemn others who do. Watching a movie like this is good recreation and I can’t see how it can be sinful in any way, unless for SUPER rare cases like a person watches The Incredibles to learn how to develop real life magic

Constructive criticism NOT same as condemnation.
Climbing a hill is good recreation

It scared my 7 & 6 year old. They were not able to follow the story line. It was more adult than enjoyable for the family. Jack-Jack was the shinny light though.

I know this movie has been out for few weeks already, but I am going to wait to see it at the $2.50 theater in 3 months, even though I am a big Pixar fan. The reason is the original 2004 Incredibles was arguably the best Pixar movie ever made. It broke new ground in animating hair and cloth, was an incredible original and compelling story about family, and it resolved all the major issued it raised. It did not call for a sequel. It was perfect just the way it was. The only thing I can think happened is the Mouse made Brad Bird do it so they could sell merchandise.

This movie was so promoted in the last six months and released so many trailers that way too much of the story was revealed before opening day. Now don’t get me wrong - from all I have heard Brad Bird did an excellent job with this movie, but I doubt it will remembered as another Coco or Wall-E or Up or Inside Out. At least that’s what reviewers I respect have said.

I’ll probably just wait for the DVD release and watch it with my boyfriend and my little niece.

My kids want to see it so I will probably see it in the theater. Sigh. I kind of miss watching ‘real’ movies.

Saw it the other day. I have not seen Incredibles1. Jack-Jack made the picture for me.
I “knew” the evil character would turn out that way from something said early in the film. Good forshadowing.
All contemporary films tend to move too fast for me. This one does. I think I will see the Mr. Rogers movie for contrast. 🙂

‘It did not call for a sequel’. Sadly, given the endless need to sell merchandise etc. wise words that are often ignored.

I still have hope that the core brain trust at Pixar, which thankfully has been kept as a separate unit from Disney, will return to original stories. One wildcard in all that is what the 6-month leave of absence of John Lasseter under a cloud of sexual misbehavior will mean for the studio. He was acting as the head of both Pixar and Disney animation. If he does not return to his old role, I hope Pixar is able provide its own leadership from within Pixar and not be further diluted by Disney influence.

If any Pixar movie begged for a sequel, it was The Incredibles. I’m glad we finally got it. IMHO of course.
