"The internet is my religion" - How would you respond?

Take a look at this video. A man who has battled cancer for much of his life tells a story of how his faith in God died but his belief in the internet came about when he needed an organ donation.

Interesting - but very wrong.

I’ve been trying to come up with how exactly I would respond to this guy, but I’m not sure how I would go about it.

His mom died of cancer, and he has had to battle it himself. He claims God left him.
I would say God never leaves you, but I wouldn’t know how to show him that.
 
I would tell him that it was God who gave us the gift of our intelligence, which over many years has led to the internet, and it was by His hand and according to His will that he found a donor through the internet.

And that God created the people who created the internet 😉 And plus, the internet can’t save you at the judgment seat of God. :dts:
 
His personal experience is that his only consolation comes from the Internet, not from people
I don’t think that words would convince him otherwise. Others can demonstrate by their kindness to him that there is more to life, that consolation and company also comes from living persons and even the God who inspires them.
Aside from practical acts of kindness giving him practical experience of love and goodness, there is prayer for his soul, his whole being, his salvation. These two things would have more impact than any particular words.
 
I’d send him to a live streaming of the Blessed Sacrament 🙂

Exactly. The internet is far to shallow to put your faith into it.

The internet is just like any tool man has created.
We are able to use it for a lot of good and a lot of bad.

Good point!

The face of God is seen when we actively love each other. He has seen a lot of love, it seems.

We all need to know this person, and we can. Everyday.
We just have to bother enough to see him or her being passed by.
