The irony between circumcision and faith alone

Circumcision vs Faith Alone?
I was just thinking about this issue last night, I realized that despite all the claims protestants make for FA, especially using Pauls teachings of faith vs works (especially circumcision), at the end of the day they are doing just what Paul was condemning.

Paul was condemning the notion of Jewish-Christians raising their circumcision to be the key factor in their salvation, they thought once they were circumcised God owed them His favor…well in the case of Faith Alone it turns out Protestants simply replaced the act of circumcision with faith missing Paul’s point. With Faith Alone they take on the same attitude as those Jewish Christians, they think after I have faith in Jesus thats all there is too it, sure there is other stuff but thats gravy on the mashed potatoes.
When you think about it thats the EXACT mentality that eventually led Protestants to OSAS, after the “sinners prayer” (circumcision) they have a one way ticket to Heaven…

I couldnt believe this but it makes perfect sense. Paul’s definition of faith is a living faith “working through love” (Gal5:6), a lifelong commitment to obeying God (Heb11:6)…not a one time, fast food drive thru style salvation.

From what I’ve seen in Evangelical responses to OSAS is a backing away from the idea that one can live any way one pleases and rely on a one-time commitment to Christ. I see this as a positive sign that this great lie is finally dying for the simple reason that it does not help the Christian live the life of Christ, which is also necessary for salvation. And it is too simplistic to say that persons who backslide never were saved to begin with, especially when neither Jesus nor the Apostles taught that it is impossible for us to lose our faith through sin and slothfulness.
