I just wanted to share this Vortex episode from ChurchMilitant.TV!
youtube.com/watch?v=6rv_3EPCMs0
It goes into how the media likes to bash the Church as being “out of touch with reality” and “irrelevant” but then, whenever an issue in the Church comes up they immediately jump on it. So much for an ‘irrelevant’ Church. I thought I’d share it with everyone to watch, particularly during this time as the media is crowing and fawning over the delusion that our Holy Father Pope Francis is going to “change” the Church and all that other hogwash.

.
Ugh! This man is incorrigible and so insulting!
I sure hope he does not speak for all Catholics.

First of all, he calls other Christian religions “false”…
That’s because they *are * false…
There is one universal Church of the faithful, outside of which no one at all can be saved. Pope Innocent III, ex cathedra, (Fourth Lateran Council, 1215).
.Second…I am a member of the media, and he doesn’t understand how media words at all. He’s got it all wrong. How he describes what, why, and how a media outlet chooses to cover a topic or event is completely, completely wrong.
Michael Voris also used to work in the media. He knows his stuff.
For example, he insists that no media is covering the news about the abortionist Kermit Gosnell. Well, a .2 second google search will show you hundreds and hundreds of news stories on the guy in major, mainstream news outlets, including current articles in the last few days in so-called liberal biased publications like The Huffington Post, The New York Times, The LA Times, etc, etc, etc.
It is a notable news story, so the newspapers are covering it. This is what they do.
They also covered the *happy *news of the new pope the day he was elected.
Fair enough 🤷 but most of these are pro-life sites. All these liberal publications don’t actually have it in their main headlines.
.There is so much more wrong with what he says, I don’t have the energy to go into it.
This man–is he a used care salesman?–is spreading lies. If I were you, I wouldn’t post his ramblings.
He talks as though he’s mentally ill (no offense to mentally ill people, who are much saner and smarter and kinder than this person). If he wasn’t so insulting to every group of people he mentions, I’d almost feel sorry for him.

I love how the comments are “disabled” below the video. He must be a-scared of all the negative comments he’d get…
My friend, if it’s one thing you need to know about people like Michael Voris, it’s that they don’t care about what others think of them. Their only concern is saving souls and spreading the Faith. Period.

I’m starting to regret to having started this thread :banghead:

I’m not surpries. Voris uses generalisations which

I love Michael Voris website church Militant.TV and get an email a day so I can quickly click on the link to keep up with his commentary and the news of the day in the faith world. Michael Voris is a devout and fearless Catholic who is faithful to all the teachings of the church, and champions the cause of all Christians calling them all to come home to the one true Catholic Church that has the fullness of the faith. I am enjoying watching the videos of the Cruise and seminars. It’s a great Catholic website and I highly recommend it to anyone. Great thread, Rocky and thank you for starting it. 🙂

Sadly, this is a typical reaction when confronted with the truth these days. Very charitable of you, by the way, to call him “mentally ill”. There are very few in “the media” who lay it on the line and proclaim ***Catholic ***truth like Michael Voris. He is to be applauded.

Mr Voris gets lots of negative comments so I don’t think he’s scared of them. I, for one, have learned quite a bit from his website. There are a whole lot more things on it than just the Vortex for anyone interested in learning about the Catholic Faith. The whole idea behind churchmilitant.tv is the salvation of souls. Jesus Christ offended lots of people too and so have many other saints through out the centuries, so in that way Michael Voris is not alone. Sometimes the Gospel is difficult to live with. I don’t think Jesus was all “clappy-happy” as he faced being scourged and then crucified,🤷

Please don’t say anything like that again.

In the same way that we are supposed to be charitable to other religions here on CAF and that the pope himself is charitable in that way, too, so should this Voris person be.

He has been in trouble a LOT for doing this and has been reprimanded and banned speaking at a Universities and warned by the Catholic Archdiocese about it.

A statement last year issued by the Archdiocese of Detroit:
**
“The Diocese of Scranton has determined that Mr. Voris will not be allowed to speak in a Diocesan or parish facility. After these engagements were scheduled, the Diocese became aware of concerns about this individual’s views regarding other religious groups. In videos posted on the Internet, Mr. Voris makes comments that certainly can be interpreted as being insensitive to people of other faiths. The Catholic Church teaches us to respect all people, regardless of their faith tradition.]”**
**
“Although the Diocese shares Mr. Voris’ support of efforts to protect human life, his extreme positions on other faiths are not appropriate and therefore the Diocese cannot host him.”
…"it had been informed by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops and Mr. Voris’s home Archdiocese of Detroit that Voris had caused “a number of controversies” and “that his programs are not endorsed by his home archdiocese”
**

On another date, the Archdiocese released this press release, wanting him to take the word “Catholic” out of his TV moniker:
**
The press release stated, “The Archdiocese has informed Mr. Voris and Real Catholic TV, RealCatholicTV.com, that it does not regard them as being authorized to use the word ‘Catholic’ to identify or promote their public activities…The Church encourages the Christian faithful to promote or sustain a variety of apostolic undertakings but, nevertheless, prohibits any such undertaking from claiming the name Catholic without the consent of the competent ecclesiastical authority.”**

These are just a few of many, many statements made by church leaders on this guy. This man has been banned, criticized, and is in legal and religious hot water with his own religious bosses and people high up in the Catholic church who are not in agreement with him…so again, I would urge you–especially if you are Catholic-- to reconsider listening to him and spreading his insensitive propoganda videos around.

.Also be careful about Jesus and His Apostles and reconsider listening to them They might tell you something that might force you to change your life and thus might hurt your feelings!🤷

Its called PR, something some people need to learn.

Its called PR, something some people need to learn.
Some of the Apostles didn’t have very good PR such as when Paul called a high priest a “white washed wall” and earned himself a swat on the mouth.

There is nothing wrong with being mentally ill. I know and love several mentally ill people and as I stated, I mean nooo offense to people who do have mental illness.
It is a fact of life, like having a physical illness. If someone has a personality disorder or a chemical imbalance or a psychological disorder, then they have a mental illness (unless this term is not considered politically correct anymore? This may have changed recently?).
There is therapy and medications that can help.
I’m not saying this Voris person is ill, I can’t say that for sure not knowing much about him. But, what I wrote is that he is talking as though he is, as if he is chemically or psychologically in need of help.
That is why it is scary… that people will listen to him when he speaks in this manner and take what he is saying as healthy talk.
Did you see the link in my last post?

You are saying that Mr. Voris sounds mentally ill merely because you strongly disagree with him. And I thought my political views were extreme! That is Stalinist talk. “How could he possibly oppose us so strongly? Insanity, perhaps?”

I happen to agree with most of Mr. Voris’s statements. Does that mean I also need to have my mental health assessed?

I sincerely hope you never run for public office.

That’s not the PR I was talking about but glad you brought that up.

Saint Thomas Aquanis when held in prison by his family for being a friar was tempted by a women sent into his cell so he would brake his vows of chasity and give up being a monk.

He responded to this temptation by chasing her out of the room with a burning log from the fire.

Many Christians have this god complex due to Jesus whipping people out of the temple that they are allowed to pull stuff like that.

First off your not Jesus, most of the time it’s not your house and you have no right to hurt anyone much less be that brutal.

Going back to st Thomas he immediately begged God forgiveness for acting so aggressively.

Just because other religion are wrong doesn’t mean you can get on a big stage just say it like it is. Yes it’s the truth but when you addressing a crowd like that your acting (intentionally or not) as its face to those who are being insulted by the man.

So…did anyone see the latest video about “Dolan-ism?”

youtube.com/watch?v=O9U-esned-c

Ouch.

I’m just a simple RCIA candidate, so I don’t think it’s my place to criticize a bishop or cardinal…but whatever Michael Voris’ attitude, is his stance correct? Are ardent abortion-supporting Catholics not supposed to receive Communion?

He is correct. People who claim to be Catholic and openly and publically support things that are opposed to Church teaching are not supposed to receive Communion. Some participants on this website are not exactly “fans” of Michael Voris but more often than not his stance on Catholic teaching is correct even if you don’t always care for his way of delivering the message.

but whatever Michael Voris’ attitude, is his stance correct?
Not a good choice of user name - “Minion”…which is a follower devoted to serve his/her master relentlessly. Relentless? Master? also known as servile follower or subordinate. bootlicker hireling, lackey, lickspittle, parasite, pet, toady, underling, yes man. The Wicked Witch of the West had minions.

You are a follower of Christ, not someone to be described as an underling or lackey.
Please pick another User name for yourself.

As far as Mr. Voris…
No, Mr. Voris’ attitude is part of the validity (or lack of validity) of his argument and it is not correct. A stance is a logical argument allowing for reasoning and judgement and requires a counter argument. With Mr. Voris that does not exist, he refuses to acknowledge some basic pieces and as Daddy’s Girl says, jumps logic.

I believe Daddy’s girl does make some valid points.

Even the Catholic Church acknowledges positions that Mr. Voris does not. He says the Church is wrong? But how can he judge the Church is wrong and he is right? Sounding more and more like a Protestant every day.

He is an awesome speaker, has a good heart, is willing to go to the literal ends of the earth to save souls. He would be so, so much better is he acknowledged what is says is not infallible. By refusing to change his attitude, he is actually pushing souls to Satan. Maybe he’d get 100,000 hits instead of 5,000. I get 5,000 a day in e-mail I sent out to the company.

Don’t be a Minion to Mr Voris, be a follower of Christ.

this made me chuckle

minion, slave, servant, etc., I lower myself before another. It is self-effacing, to remember to humble myself, as I can be a bit arrogant & conceited at times.

But still, if any moderators are reading this, and are really offended, let me know. I can change it to something fluffier.

The Catholic Diocese agrees with me on his style and content. But no, don’t you worry…just because you don’t agree…doesn’t mean you need to have your mental health assessed!!! 🙂
(Although…the Peterborough, Ontario part worries me a bit. All that Kawartha Dairy ice cream…brain freeze!)
Just because that Diocese doesn’t agree on Michael Voris’ ChurchMilitantTV “style” and “content” doesn’t mean that all the other bishops and cardinals don’t support it. I know this is getting a bit off topic, but here are some supporters of ChurchMilitant.TV:
Here’s Cardinal Raymond Burke blessing their studio.
Here’s Bishop Vincente Navarra with Michael Voris
Here’s Bishop Fabian Bruskewitz being interviewed by Michael Voris
Here’s Bishop Thomas Paprocki being interviewed by Michael Voris.

I think you can now get the point that there are many Church leaders that do support Michael Voris and his work. He speaks so boldly because many both outside and inside the Church today have “itching ears” with which they don’t want to hear the truths of the Catholic Faith.

? No, dear, i didn’t see your link.
But I didn’t write that he sounded ill/off because I disagreed with him. Not sure what led you to that conclusion.
((I didn’t write this sentence:* "“How could he possibly oppose us so strongly? Insanity, perhaps?”* That must have come from another poster.))
I know you didn’t write that sentence: it is an imaginary example of the kind of totalitarian logic that you are (unfortunately) exhibiting.
Stalin?! Total LOL!
I think he sounds several cards short of a deck because of the way he’s ranting…his leaps of logic…his frenetic delivery…the style and venom of his insults…how out of touch with reality he is…etc…
You don’t notice this at all when you watch the video??
You mentioned sounding like Stalin, but to my ears he sounds more like that German dictator…
“the way he’s ranting” = his enthusiasm
“his leaps of logic” = the fact that you disagree with him
“his frenetic delivery” = his enthusiasm (again)
“the style and venom of his insults” = saying the things others are afraid to say
“how out of touch with reality he is” = the fact that you disagree with him (again)

Do you see what you are doing? Call him stupid if you like, but don’t cast aspersions on his sanity. They can’t lock you up for being stupid, but if they want to they can lock you up for being insane.
The Catholic Diocese agrees with me on his style and content. But no, don’t you worry…just because you don’t agree…doesn’t mean you need to have your mental health assessed!!! 🙂

One Catholic diocese, as has been pointed out.

Just turning the conversation away from Voris, it is good to get an informed post on the subject of the video, which is the media.

I am not in the media, but I have previously observed and posted in CAF similar opinions, namely that the main priority of the media is to just do their jobs and print what interests the public, truthfully. I came out strongly in defence of the coverage of the election of Francis I.

I don’t see that the media have any more duty to promote Catholicism than a hamburger shop does. Even a Catholic hamburger shop.

Well it’s funny that you say that. World youth day attracts 5 million poeple in Germany and global media called it “a good turn out of 2 million.”

I know what the numbers were I was there. I got 20 ft from the pope cause I’m pro ninja like that but let me tell you something: you have heard nothing till you hear 5 million people sing, dance or walk as one.

That gathering (being world youth day in general) calls for million of people from around the world to unite under the values of peace a friendship. Such a thing is in many ways rivals the Olimpics games in scale and the media always without fail short changes the importance and the scale.
