The Jerusalem Bible 1966 still in print?

On the ‘Published by’ page (go to ‘look inside’ to see it) it says:

“The popular edition if The Jerusalem Bible, upon which this Reader’s Edition is based, was first published in Great Britain in1974…”

So, this is a later edition of a later edition and not the original 1966 edition.
 
If you read the information it’s clear that this is a reissue of the original Jerusalem Bible and not the New Jerusalem Bible. Wish I’d known the difference before I bought mine.

As I understand it, the ‘Reader’s Edition’ has fewer and less detailed footnotes and an abridged introduction. The text of the Scriptures themselves remains the same.
 
It appears to be a reprint of the '66. (same listed ‘author’, ‘readers edition’ only appears as the 1966-1971 editions). Certainly it should not be the New Jerusalem translation (they’d have to distinguish).
 
The ‘Catholic Truth Society’ in Britain publishes/sells/ships a fine version.

Is this the 1966 or the normal the Jerusalem Bible ?

This reader’s edition is a reprint of the 1966 Jerusalem Bible, but it does not contain the extensive book introductions and the commentary notes that the original does, but it is a good size to carry around. My only complaint about it, is the uneven reprinting that Doubleday did on this Bible. Some of the pages are darker than other, looks like a photo copy sometimes. Check it out at your local Barnes and Noble before you buy it. Maybe one day Double Day will do this Bible some justice and re-print it and put it in a bonded leather binding like they did for the NJB 👍
