I was at the library yesterday looking for movies to rent and I came across The Jewish Cardinal. I highly recommend this movie. What a fascinating life! I had never heard of Jean Marie Lustiger before.
Has anyone else seen this film or read about his life story?

I have not seen the film, but it sounds fascinating and I am very interested in seeing it. I think both Catholics and Jews might learn something from it. I have read a little about the unusual life of Aaron Jean-Marie Cardinal Lustiger, including his wartime experience and conversion to Catholicism and his extraordinary funeral at Notre Dame with many dignitaries in attendance.
Thanks for calling the film to our attention!

Yes he definitely wanted to work to bring Jews and Christians closer-to promote healing. He insisted he still saw himself as a Jew even though he had converted. He struggled with the Rabbis who said he could not be both Jew and Christian. His argument was that is how Jesus lived (even though the term Christian was not used yet).
The actor who portrayed him was fantastic. Hope you get a chance to see it.

I got this out of the library recently too. It was a good movie, although I can appreciate what a difficult situation he was in.
