To those who still think that the Nazis and the Church have conspiracy regarding persecution of Jews, I suggest you watch the movie “THE ASSISI UNDERGROUND” It is a true story about the Church (specially the Franciscans) do to the Jews…
 
I’ve seen the Scarlet and the Black and think it should be mandatory viewing for those that attack the Church. It’s a great spring board for futher research.
 
If I may sound a note of caution, “The Scarlet and the Black” is about an Irish monsignor in the Vatican rescuing and caring for escaped Allied prisoners of war. It is not about protecting Jews.

We must be talking about two different films…the one I saw was about helping Jews escape from the Nazis.

Gregory Peck as the priest, Christopher Plummer as the head of the SS, and Sir John Gielgud as Pius XII? I saw it this past summer. I don’t know of any other.

The movie does have a sequence in the middle in which Pius XII donates a large amount of gold to ransom the Jews of Rome, but most of the movie is about Gregory Peck’s character helping to hide escaped Allied prisoners of war.

I saw the film many moons ago. Perhaps I was overly impressed with the portion devoted to saving the Jews.

I have often thought that the criticism of Pope Pius XII were based on misunderstandings that are not usually mentioned in his defence.
They are A. That everyone listenes to a pope
B. That all Catholics obey Church teachings.
C. That the Pope has preternatural powers and could stop anything if he so wished.

I once heard the statement that Pius XII could have stopped the holocaust with a word. What word!!

it is important to remember that the catholics were also being persecuted, it wasnt solely the jews, like hollywood makes it out to be.

If you want to know what Catholics did in WWII don’t look at Protestant lies, look to the blood of the martyrs for Gods truth.

Catholics don’t need to defend anything, Protestants need to prove thier lies. (PS, not all Protestants, just the ones who invent, spread and believe the lies.)

I heard a story recently on EWTN regarding the lives of 11 nuns who’s beatification process was opened somewhere in 1990 perhaps? Anyone know about this? Thanks. I will also add, that many of those convents and monasteries that sheltered Jews during the War was done under orders from Pope Pius XII. He even sheltered Jews in the Vatican and in Castel Gandolfo his summer residence. The MSM and anti-Catholic Protestants who believe the idea this blood-libel that Pius XII remained silent are ignoring the facts.

This is based on the idea that the Pope is only a political figure.
