The JW's lump Catholics and Protestants in with "Cults"

Even though there is no affiliation w/ the JWs, here is what I have to say… So let me ask this… are we Catholics and Protestants brainwashed??? Uh, I’d have to say NO!!! Are the JW’s, let me say YES THEY ARE. I have been to their Kingdom Hall w/my DH and to their assemblies, and gosh are they brain washed??? They go on and on and on about the false prophets and how these false prophets will be destroyed, how the UN is evil and will be destroyed because it “clearly says so in the book of Revelations”… WHERE??? The UN is NEVER mentioned in the Bible, and actually, who have been telling false prophecies to the world? Who has set exact dates of the end of the world? Who says Jesus’ 2nd coming happened in 1914??? Wild guess! —> The JW’s… so who’s the CULT???

While I agree with everything you said, the OP started this thread with a link to a “looks like some fundamentalist” website and mistakenly referred to the site as belonging to the JWs (due to similar name - see posts above). I know that JWs think catholicism is a “false religion” but the site in question doesn’t belong to them.

I did notice it’s the OP made a mistake thinking that site was a JW site, but I just got so heated up when I saw that WE are the cults… anywho… we know who the cults are, we believe in the Truth and noone is going to convince us otherwise.

Looking back at the posted link, it says that it an index of both RELIGIONS (AND) CULTS. They don’t come out and specifically say that Catholicism is a cult. But the large paragraph they devote to some of the negatives of Catholicism sure makes you ponder which classification they think it fits in.

Well I apologise to the JW’s. My mistake. It would be nice however if some JW’s came on board and said Catholics or Protestants aren’t cults.

Eastern Catholics I believe would go under Orthodox Christianity, for they are Orthodox Christians in communion of Rome. They are not Roman Catholics though.

Orthodox Christians in communion with Rome is kind of dubious, because the Catholic Church, in our opinion, is the only Orthodox Church. Eastern-Rite Catholics are just that, Catholics who use the Eastern Divine Liturgy and have their own theological expressions. Orthodox dogma is not compatible with Catholic dogma, but Eastern Catholic dogma is.

In addition, the Maronites are an Eastern-Rite Church who have no counterpart in the Eastern Orthodox world because they have always been in communion with Rome.

Totally wrong! Saint Patrick evangelised Ireland a lot earlier than Saint Augustine showed up in England. Obviously the author of the list doesn’t know a lot about the eccliesiastical history of the British Isles. Saint Partrick established the Celtic Church and the only differance that was later eradicated was the Celtic date of Easter. All the rest remained.

I wonder what else is written there that is wrong.

Us Anglican’s don’t get a mention either. It’s so unfair!

It is not so far removed when you consider that both teach the SAME errors. The origin of humanity being a case-in point.

I think that in many respects it is paradoxical that ProtestantIsM opposes Catholicism when they BOTH teach the SAME bible errors.

Bible errors?? Where does the Catholic Church err in its teachings on the origin of humanity? Genesis is not a history book. We are in the same camp with Jehovah’s Witnesses?? I strongly disagree with you. IF both protestantism and Catholicism teach error then where is the Church that Jesus founded?

I hope that I am mistaken about your post and you will correct my understanding. At face value you exhibit no Christian foundation other than what you discern is truth.

Well the Catholic Church wrote the bible the Protestants and JW’s believe it. Genisis teaches that God made man first then woman from man. But we know that the most primeaval state is female. Man must therefore come from woman not the other way around

It is not a theory it is a fact!!!

Things always start with a common denominator. That is the basic state. In humanity the primary state is female. Male is derived from female. That is not a theory it is a well known biological fact.

Ask any endocrine [hormone] specialist or neuro-psychologist. Men lose their ability to manufacture testosterone and they develop breasts. Other parts of their anatomy become female. If I explain in graphic detail, someone will no doubt be offended, complain to the moderators then I will be banned for being explicit. I have no intention of doing that. Rest assured there is no part to a male which is exclusive to him! Everything is a mirror image of female.

Women never return to the primary state of male. Men if they lose their supply of testosterone decay to female. That is a fact.
It is only testosterone which prevents and keeps male away from the primary female state.

If you are so hung up on this fact then kudos to you. That still won’t change my mind to the authenticity of Scripture nor my view that God created humans. How?? Well you seem to know. I don’t. I wasn’t there. If you wish to insert God into scientific findings and say that science determines God rather than God determines science, then have at it.

I seem to want to concentrate my efforts into following the ways of Jesus and live according to His message of love. Was Jonah really swallowed up by a whale?? Who knows. It really doesn’t matter as long as the message of salvation is not distorted. Present it as Eve and Adam. It really does not shake my faith… God Bless you
