A lot of folk believe in Christ on the basis of what is in the Bible. They take everything as some sort of ‘absolute truth given by God’ which of course lots of it is, but also lots are not.

I believe in the Bible but of those bits which we know are mythical, in that they were never intended to be taken as ‘real life events’ but whose meaning was to convey an important point of teaching, but which have been taken and interpreted as literal events.

Those bits of the gospel which according to catholic Exegists He did not do or say, Those bits of the Gospels which were added to make HIm sound more plausible were in my view, not needed. They add not one iota to His credibility. You either accept Him or you do not. I STILL believe in the Person of Jesus Christ. That He is the Son of God, the essential ‘truths’ of the Nicene Creed.

That He is truely present under the appearance of bread and wine in the Holy Eucharist.

I did not, nor have I ever asserted that science determines God. On the contrary would cite the creative nature of God from the observable universe [nature] to argue evidence of well researched scientific theories that are now understood as facts.

No one disputes the earth is round. Few have been in space but we take it as a fact rather than a theory based on the overwhelming evidence that supports the proposition. In a similar veign, no one disputes that woman had to come first seeings hard cold facts of endocrinology overwhelmingly support the view it had to be that way. But if you wish to believe that man came first [or that the earth is flat] then that is up to you. You are entitled to your view and I would defend your right to express it

Life was alot simpler when the earth was flat. It was held up by pillars, by the way, and we didn’t have atomic bombs to blow it up.

I found this interesting that the Watchmen lump Roman **Catholics **in with Ro-Hun Therapy. ??? Here is a link that have the Jehovah witness watchmen describing Roman Catholics under their list of “cults”.

**Also listed as a cult is “Christianity”. **Funny I thought Catholics were Christians but anyway.

In the definition of Christianity they accuse the following of being a cult:

Gospel, Born Again, Fundamental Christianity, Evangelical Christianity, Protestant Christianity, Orthodox Christianity, Roman Catholicism, Salvation by Grace, Salvation by Works.

Also considered as a cult on the same list with Catholicism and Christianity is the “Church of E Yada di Shi-ite” which consists of New Age, channeling, and UFO contactees.

So Catholics and Protestants apparently we are both a cult. I will be sure to have my white nikes ready for the next comet that comes around.

Jehovah’s witnesses are so arrogant! They need to realise that being meek and humble are important for true followers of God. They put too much pride into thier intellectualism and book learning.

The NWT reflects this when it says “…they are taking in knowledge of you, the one true God…”, when most real bibles say, “…they are knowing you, the one true God…”. (I forget the exact passage in John)

The “knowledge” of John 17.3 is “ginoskosi” which is an active intercourse, not a completed state. The word is used to say that Joseph did not have active knowledge of Mary before the birth of Christ. Mary was willing to accept the active transfer of the Word.
