Jesus continually said The Kingdom is at Hand and he got the deciples to preach that too when he sent them out. What does this mean?

Life is short in comparison with everlasting life. The kingdom is at hand for all of us. We never know when we will cross the finish line for this life. Many of the Gospels remind us to be ready to face God, often in parables, but Jesus tells us plainly to be prepared. Love God above all things, love our neighbor as our ourselves. Jesus also warns us about eternal damnation for those who are not faithful to his Word.

MMM thanks for the reply,

That would make sence by itself but it doesn’t fit in the case where Jesus says If it is by the finger of God that I drive out demons then the kingdom of God has come upon you."

Also Jesus says The coming of the Kingdom can not be seen … for behold it is among you.

There’s something I’m not getting here I’m sure of it.

That phrase is also equated to the “Gospel”, which in the common Greek of the day meant “Official (Good) News” delivered through an official of the government.

The Kingdom of God is at hand, means - put out your hand, touch it.
The King himself was speaking it, then his appointed officials, the disciples spoke it.

They then granted citizenship into the Kingdom to others, baptizing them as their "rite of naturalization (if you look at the rite of baptism and compare it to the naturalization “ritual” for becoming an American citizen, you will see definite parallels, of vowing allegiance, renunciation of allegiance to other citizenship or countries (for an American, renouncing your old nation; for Catholic, renouncing your allegiance to Sin and Satan).

After naturalization, you have a new Identity - “I am American” / “I am Catholic” - you are justified in living the life of an American without and further justification with all its rights and responsibilities / you are justified in regarding yourself as “saved”, as a Catholic, and living as one of these special People in the world with all its rights and responsibilities, including looking forward to the inheritance awaiting the faithful citizens (eternal life).

They did not “see” it, recognize it, because they did not see him as a King, as the Messiah from God. He didn’t appear in an Emporer’s splendor nor with legions of angels marching. But, if his casting out of demons actually is from God, if he is who he knows himself to be, then the King is with them in all his Power, as is his Kingdom (his People), and so the Kingdom is right there in front of those he is talking to (Jesus and His People are right there in front of them).

“The coming of the Kingdom can not be seen … for behold it is among you.” is equal to saying “The Kingdom you know is coming you don’t see - look! it is right here in front of you with me and my disciples, with Peter to whom I gave the Keys to my Kingdom, but you can’t see it because you think of me as a carpenter’s son and think of Peter as a fisherman”.

The “Kingdom” has three theological dimensions:
  1. **Christological - the Kingdom is Christ himself **(Luke 11:20, 17:21; and Parables in Matthew 13:44-46, where Christ is the treasure or pearl).
  2. **Mystical - The kingdom is within each of us **(Ephesians 3:16-17; Luke 17:21b "For behold, the kingdom of God is among you, " if we understand “among you” to be “in you”. Pope Benedict said, “The kingdom of God is not to be found on any map … it is located in man’s inner being.”
  3. Ecclesiological - The kingdom is the Church. This relates to both 1 and 2, in that, 1) the Church is the Mystical Body of Christ, and 2) each of us as individuals are elements of the set that is the Church.
Hope this helps.

The world is crying out for a redeemer. We are desperate now for all this evil in the world to stop.

Please God send your saviour to save the world, yet again.
