I’m worried there is no forgiveness of sins in the last 3 and a half years of earth

It talks about the sixth seal, people being marked with 666 and taking the mark being ‘unforgivable’

The sixth seal is opened after the abomination of the desolate, (daniel 12) which talks about the sacrifice coming to an end for three and a half years

The catholic church doesn’t seem to have a teaching of this, but the Bible seems to implicate it.

What Gov. said above! That’s the Church’s teaching on the matter.
Also, we’re free to believe a large majority of the events in Revelation are past and have already occurred.

I don’t see what you say is in this passage, which is–
Revelation 6:12-17:
When he opened the sixth seal, I looked, and behold, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth, the full moon became like blood, 13 and the stars of the sky fell to the earth as the fig tree sheds its winter fruit when shaken by a gale; 14 the sky vanished like a scroll that is rolled up, and every mountain and island was removed from its place. 15 Then the kings of the earth and the great men and the generals and the rich and the strong, and every one, slave and free, hid in the caves and among the rocks of the mountains, 16 calling to the mountains and rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of him who is seated on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb; 17 for the great day of their wrath has come, and who can stand before it?”

This sort of thinking, and I do understand your concerns I should say, suggest that there are limits and legal loopholes to God’s love. It would be easy for me to say just forget it but not so easy for one who is genuinely anxious to do so. The previous posters have said the wise things. Please listen to them and do a bit more study in the CCC.

You’ve been reading too many end times/rapture fallacies which are popular with certain Evangelical/Fundamentalists.

The book of Revelation should not be interpreted literally. It is not a timeline.

God is forgiveness right up until death. God is love and mercy and just punishment

Um… are you okay?

This is the third Cheerios comment I’ve seen from you in a thread today and, ahem, the loopiest.

At first I thought I was missing context from an in-joke up-thread.

But on this thread… what’s going on?

I appreciate any and all attempts to make CAF take itself less seriously.

I’m almost finished reading Revelations and I’m none the wiser. It is better to try and live a Christian life, live in the now than worry when the end of days might come. Christians have been waiting over 2,000 years for it.

To begin to understand Revelation , you should first have read the other 72 books of the Bible. If you read Revelation without being familiar with the rest of the Bible, it would be rather like picking up a novel and only reading the last chapter - and then wondering " What was that all about ? " The whole Bible is inter-connected .

NONE of this is Catholic teaching.

Your post is a classic example of why the Church instructs Catholics not to make up their own interpretations of Scripture, because they come up with crazy and wrong stuff.

God can and will forgive our sins right straight up to the last second of life or the Second Coming of Christ, whichever comes first. There is not some 3-year period that we wouldn’t even know when it started during which God isn’t going to forgive us.

Stop making up your own interpretations of the Scripture, pray more and be at peace.

These verses in Revelation aren’t about the end of the world. They are actually referring to the period before the destruction of the Temple and Jerusalem, bringing about the end of the Old Covenant.

When people try to interpret Revelation as still future events, then I agree, one is usually left non the wiser.

Revelation seems to me to be speaking about those accepting the mark of the beast knowingly rejecting Christ. As in Matthew, the unforgiveable sin is the rejection of Christ.

We are commanded to confess Christ even unto death. Short of insanity (i.e. not having the faculty to understand what you’re doing), denying Christ to save your life is mortally sinful. During the Great Persecutions, the Church imposed forty days’ penance on those who denied Christ under torture, and much more for those who suffered less duress.

Can you show me the specific command you refer to please.
Which great persecution?
