Since he was wrong, all we can do is 🤷. Aristotle thought that the brain is simply the organ to cool the blood. Should we feel any “special sympathy” for him? It is a good thing to learn about their mistakes, so we can avoid them toady. But otherwise they belong to the dustbin of history. It is funny (actually it is pretty sad) that the church keeps on basing its teachings on those outmoded and obsolete ideas. 😉 (By the way, not everything is obsolete what was developed back then. The theorems of the ancient mathematicians still shine in their full glory.)
My feeling is that we owe all those venerable sages of ancient times a great deal of respect, if not awe, even if they often seem ‘wrong’ to us at first glance. Perhaps we also will be considered wrong in future times…

I am always willing to give full marks for their correct analyses, and do not blame them for their lack of knowledge, which was unavailable in those times. But let’s also point out where they only engaged in empty speculations and those speculations proved to be useless. There is a wise saying:

There are two kinds of fools. One says: “this is old and therefore good”. The other kind says: “this is new and therefore better”.

I am sure you see what I mean. 🙂

There is no “perhaps” about it. We shall be proven wrong many, many times.

But the point of this whole thread was that “materialists” are illogical to place value of anything in this world, since at the lowest level of existence is simply “matter / energy”. I gave quite a few examples to show that this kind of “reductionism” is incorrect, and no well-educated materialist subscribes to such silly worldview.

It is significant that no one has attempted to justify this absurd hypothesis. Silence implies assent - or impotence… **

The silence assent or impotence is deafening! 👍
