The law cannot force a priest to do such a thing.

The law can try, but the priest is called to follow God’s law, not man’s.

No priests are going to report, and good luck finding out exactly what might have been disclosed in confession anyway, unless of course the police are going to bug the confessionals now.
The entire Australian legal system seems to be a hot mess so I’m not surprised they just add to the pile.

I hope people of other faiths in Australia will understand that just because Catholics are the first to have freedom of religion removed, they may not be the last.
