I just got back from my parish’s living stations of the cross presentation…and all I’ve got to say is WOW.:clapping: The youth did it and it was so moving. I cried and cried. Especially when you could hear the hammer nailing Jesus to the cross and when they put the body in the tomb. They slammed the door and flipped all the lights off in the church. It was just so emotional!! :tissues: And they played Were You There? while doing the stations and it was so beautiful. I can’t wait until next year during Lent and they do it again!!

Only one thing that really bothered me…A LOT…sitting behind my husband and myself was a couple that talked the entire time and then each time Jesus fell, or was pushed down, or was hit with the whips (and mind you, they actually hit the guy playing the part…really hard)…the man sitting behind me LAUGHED!!! :bigyikes: :banghead: :bigyikes:
Even my husband (who many of you may know, isn’t Catholic and isn’t going thru RCIA with me) was angry with him. It was so rude! We just need to pray for him.:gopray2:

Bakc on a good note though, if any of your parishes do the living stations, I really recommend going to them. Wonderful expierence!! :yup: And if you don’t do them, I would recommend getting a group together to do them. It is just so awesome and moving!!

Isnt it considered blasphemy to imitate the Divine Person of Christ as if acting?

I don’t know, but if so, then the Medieval Passion players and the people who played Jesus in movies, animations, etc. are guilty of that.

My parish, before I came here and with a previous priest, had a Tangi on Good Friday.

That is a Maori funeral rite.

The large crucifix that usually hung in the Church was brought into the Church in a slow and solemn funeral procession with the Maori women of the Parish crying a karakia/chant.

Everyone in the church was aware that they were present at the funeral procession of Christ. People weren’t just weeping, they were sobbing.

This was before The Passion of the Christ

That is what it means by living the Stations. We shouldn’t concentrate on the Prayers, we should concentrate on the Mysteries, the Life and Death of Christ.

If we are not transformed by this, then we are dead to Jesus.

It is not about going through the motions, it is about encountering Christ.

I used to be a Roman soldier in my church’s Living Stations. I would beat the Jesus so hard it made people jerk. I wanted to be accurate.
I always wanted to be Jesus but never got the part.I used to pray to all sorts of saints for that part, manipulated people and even bribed my friend who was getting the part of Jesus one year with a ticket autographed by some baseball player so that he could give me his part as Jesus.
I just flat out gave up on trying to get that part of Jesus. I retired and figured that was all just pride and there was no use.

I watched a Living Stations last night and I found it done nicely.
