Just wanted to share a recent academic paper by Fr. Christiaan Kappes that sheds light on the liturgical reforms mandated by the Second Vatican Council. It’s an enlightening piece and worth the read. Fr. Kappes has been part of a special Vatican initiative to explore the bridging between the Catholics and the Orthodox. His other papers on the site are also great. 👍

The Consilium’s Liturgical Reform of the Missal of Pius V in the “Normative Mass” prior to the ''Novus Ordo Missae"

The text displayed at the link contains only the TOC, Introduction, and final chapter. Is there a full text available somewhere?

On the right-hand side of the page there’s a green-colored “Download PDF” link, if you didn’t see the button upon loading the page. 😉

I still don’t see the whole paper, though.

I really really really want to see the ordo of the Missa normativa.

Looking at the table of contents, the dissertation is nearly 300 pages. Most of the relevant information though seems to be included. I guess if you really wanted, you could purchase a copy of the dissertation from Sant’Anselmo (The international Benedictine university that specializes in Liturgical Studies) in Rome.

In consolation, I found this piece which follows along similar lines as the dissertation.
