And well you should follow the Light as He instructs you…I will do the same.
Jesus spoke in a context-era of liturgical usage (even in synagogue), and all the evidence of the Early Church is of a liturgical Church–NOT of a “lets figure it out by Inner Light

“Of all conceivable forms of enlightenment the worst is what these people call the Inner Light. Of all horrible religions the most horrible is the worship of the god within. Any one who knows any body knows how it would work; any one who knows any one from the Higher Thought Sphere knows how it does work. That Jones shall worship the god within him turns out ultimately to mean that Jones shall worship Jones. Let Jones worship the sun or moon, anything rather than the Inner Light; let Jones worship cats or crocodiles, if he can find any in his street, but not the god within. Christianity came into the world firstly to assert with violence that a man has not only to look inwards, but to look outwards, to behold with astonishment and enthusiasm a divine company and a divine captain. The only fun of being a Christian was that a man was not left alone with the Inner Light, but definitely recognized an outer light, fair as the sun, clear as the moon, terrible as an army with banners.”

-G.K. Chesterton (“Orthodoxy”, Ch.5)

Begin now, as you read these words, as you sit in your chair, to offer your whole selves, utterly and in joyful abandon, in quiet, glad surrender to Him who is within. In secret ejaculations of praise, turn in humble wonder to the Light, faint though it may be.

Thomas Kelly

“Regardless of how we may view this central Quaker principle of the Light of Christ Within - and certainly Friends are not united on this, we must “hold that Christ is present, that he guides and directs, and that his will can be known and obeyed.” This is a religious truth we know experientially, not by handed-down authority nor by a forensic act of God that takes place apart from human responsibility and accountability. When we follow the Light of Christ Within there is a conscious obedience to the will of God; and when we disregard the Light of Christ we consciously disobey the will of God. But if we respond affirmatively to the Light of Christ Within it will free us from the bondage of sin and evil and will set us at liberty to be joined together in fulfilling God’s will in the world.”

William Cooper.

I commend you and your walk to the Light Within…it is a Certain and Sure Light to live by. If you find the Light best expressed in outward words and rites through the Catholic church, so much the better…but I find Him in the Quiet Sanctuary of the Living Silence in Meeting for Worship among Friends.

I remember the first time I learned that Catholics didn’t say the whole – or what I thought should be the whole – version of the Lord’s Prayer/Our Father. That was a shock to me!

Of course, I know we say the Doxology at Mass, but I used to thing it was just another one of those weird Catholic things. 😃

It’s still odd to me. I always say it when I say it by myself because it just sounds incomplete without it. I know it wasn’t in the original but, it’s hard to unlearn something.

I pray it both as its written and use it as a structure of what a proper prayer is.

My kids and I say the Lord’s Prayer every morning on the way to their school plus the extras like " Help me do well on my Math test" , " Let me be a good listener in class", “Keep Dad safe at work”, and “Help Mom with the laundry”…😉

It is always interesting to hear the add ons each morning…😃

God Bless!
