If your faith is not like that, but rather you feel a zombie directed by “big brothers”, then you will only benefit from “losing” such a faith.

I wold question whether one can lose ones faith. I wold suggest that either one throws it away or lets it wither through negligence.

It is impossible to have no faith.
Typically, when we say that someone has lost their faith, we mean that they have rejected their faith in God, and replaced it with something else. Faith in the devil, or a faith in the non-existence of God.
I believe the Church teaches this would be grave matter, as it is a direct violation of the first (and greatest) commandment.
