Hi, Benedictus2,

This was really a nice link. I had never heard of John Michael Talbot before … now, I will be looking for him! 🙂

Oh, P101… I think after you get the idea that God does not hope for anything … you will find that He does not have faith, either! yep… God is Love - and that is why Charity alone remains! 🙂

Tom
My favourite one is called “Come to the Quiet” and the collection of psalms and prayers are wonderful.

I think the first one is called Gloria (Psalm 100) and is a very fitting start to the day. It starts with the ringing of the bells. Simply beautiful. And the rest of the CD is just as wonderful.

Thank you for that Benedictus - I shall get that CD - sounds good.

By the way we have just received a book we ordered sometime ago - “Answering the New Atheism” by Scott Hahn and Benjamin Wiker. On the back cover there is an endorsement by Anthony Flew “Rarely, if ever, in my many years as a professor of philisophy did I ever have the opportunity to read such a compelling argument.” (author of “*There is a God: How the World’s Most Notorious Atheist changed His Mind”) *I remember a programme on this man - he was a very vocal and aggressive atheist for years.

I think this book should be good. In fact one of the professors from Steubenville university said that it is probably Scott Hahn’s best.

Blessings
Cinette:)

Hey I got that one too. I once started a thread asking atheists viewpoints and one of the Catholics who responded suggested I get that book.

It really highlights Hawkins’s incompetence and irrationality. He is as fundamentalist as the next believer except his god is chance:D. And what blind faith he has on chance. To the point of idiocy!!

There is also a debate on youtube between Scott Hahn and Hawkins (I think).

I try to locate the link and post it here.

Hey Benedictus - don’t you mean Dawkins? :p:yup: Richard Dawkins!

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Senility! I blame it on that!
How can you be senile if you don’t want to be? LOL.

Did you ever find that link you were referring to above?

Also; I was wondering if anyone cared to venture an opinion on how to conclude what we have learned so far in this topic about “The Love Of The Father.” Can anyone summarize it?

I can’t…
but was wondering isn’t there a contradiction within God
  1. “God so loved the world”
  2. “Love not the world” (1John 2:15)
Isn’t to love what God loves is a good thing?

To love this world is not what It means when it says God so loved the world that he sent his only son. What that means is God loved us so much he sent Jesus to free US from sin.

In John it is not this world we are not supposed to Love but the things of this world. Not the good things, the material things that can get you into trouble. Money, lust, etc. We are supposed to love the good things in this world that we made by God. But its the bad things that God had no hand in that John is talking about.

Good question…I would call that a paradox though. Although, not really even that. The word “world” in both texts refers to two different things.

Age sweetheart, age. It has a nasty habit of creeping up on you when you’re not looking 😃

Sorry about this but it was actually not a debate rather Scott discussing the refutation of the God Delusion by his book “Answering the New Atheism”

It is still interesting even though it is not a debate:

I might attempt that next weekend. I had just started a thread on the same verse because someone brought it up by PM.

Hi, Rinnie,

Thank you for an excellent answer…👍

God bless

*Thank you for those links Benedictus. We have Scott Hahn’s books and my husband has read them both but I wish there were 48 hours in a day as my attention has been elsewhere.

Blessings

Hey darling,

So good to see you in the threads again! Seems like old times.

Answering Atheism is a great book isn’t it? I find it quite funny that Dawkins’s book was such a huge tome only to be debunked by a rather small book. The God Delussion must have been just puffed up with a lot of hot air 😃

Missed you on the threads very much…

Peace and Joy of Christ to you and your family! 🙂

Well; by your posts here, you certainly do not seem to have any age problems. You sound quite young at heart. I always appreciate your posts, even the ones I disagree with. I found Scott Hahn to be respectful in how he deals with the tougher objections, and that is a nice change from what I have often experienced with Catholics. The only thing that makes it all worthwhile is the nice ones who really care about people like Jesus did/does. I will be back! I have to stay so I can get my fourth year in here at Catholic Answers!! (does anyone know if that is a record for Protestants here?).

Four years…!!! My goodness, how time flies when you are having fun, eh? 😃 You are two years up on me - so let me encourage you to stick around … you never can tell how the Grace of God gets to us. 🙂

By the way, while I do not know about CAF recognitions for your perseverance … there surely should be at least an honorable mention for the way you have decorated your page. The Candian ‘heart’ adds a nice touch … ah, but do you think you could find some color for your Bible image - b&w just clashes with the colorful heart… 😃 Check out B2’s - she has a rather firey design.

After some thought, I thought I would just remain ‘plain vanilla’ … there are times when I think it is an accomplishment ot string two sentences together! 😃

God bless
