Bishop Sorondo sounds like a real winner. No wonder the Church is in such a mess with leaders like him screwing things up.

Catholics should stay out of politics would be my advice.
Ratzinger wrote this:
[W]hen a person’s formal cooperation becomes manifest (understood, in the case of a Catholic politician, as his consistently campaigning and voting for permissive abortion and euthanasia laws), his Pastor should meet with him, instructing him about the Church’s teaching, informing him that he is not to present himself for Holy Communion until he brings to an end the objective situation of sin, and warning him that he will otherwise be denied the Eucharist.
This is not a matter of mere politics…this is a matter of someone’s soul. The end goal of denying a pro-abortion rights politician should not be political retribution (which would be wrong), the end goal would be to save that person’s soul, by not allowing them to “eat and drink condemnation” upon themselves.
