Early this morning, as midnight mass began, the commentator announced that the procession would head to the nativity scene to bless it, before heading to the altar. As the procession began, I caught a glimpse of the crucifix held by the altar server in the lead.

The Crucifix arrived, and stood watch over the manger holding the holy infant…

This. Is what I think of with that image.

Romans 6:1
What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin so that grace may increase? 2May it never be! How shall we who died to sin still live in it? 3Or do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus have been baptized into His death? 4Therefore we have been Burned with Him through baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life.

He was born so that we may live!

For God so loved the world that He gave His only-begotten Son Jesus Christ.

Bethlehem is the prelude to Calvary. We may not merely stand adoring at the crib; we must also follow to the Cross.
