James Carroll wrote a column in the Boston Globe yesterday attaching fundamental aspects of religion. However, he used this broad topic as a launching point to go on a rant about the Catholic church and in particular Pope Benedicts recent apostolic letter on the Eucharist. Carroll is a disgruntled ex-priest who wants the Church to accept abortion, homosexuality, and birth control and this article is his latest attempt to make a case for it under the subterfuge of an analysis of fundamentalism in general.
