Indeed…
That’s quite correct. I was raised Southern Baptist, spent five years as an Episcopalian, and have been a Catholic for 18 years…which, the last time I bothered checking your profile, was longer than you’ve been alive.

And you know no such thing.

And you know no such thing.
You think I dont know when somebody’s taking a shot at me? I may be less then half your age, but I am not some naive teenager who walks around ignorant of everything around me.

If you believe that was directed to you or directed to you unfairly, I should think that you would want to report the matter to the moderators.

As I said, you “know” no such thing.

You wrote it. Who was it directed at? Who else apart from Caesar, is under 20 and discussing with you?

Some older people are wise, in which case they should be listened to. Others are bigoted fools and perhaps senile, in which case they should be ignored.

Age does not give one any superiority in a discussion.
Actually, I don’t quite agree with that. I admit that an argument is either true or false on it’s own merits, certainly, but I do find, for instance, the constant criticism of the post-Conciliar Church and Popes on the part of people who weren’t born when the Council was convoked a tad odd and I certainly view the disrespectful way in which they post about Blessed John XXIII, Paul VI and the Servant of God John Paul II as completely unacceptable, since they have never borne anything as remotely heavy as the cross of the papacy, yet never hesitate to assume the role of little arm-chair popes.

Kindly note at what point Caesar joined in the discussion. I think the chronology is self-explanatory.

I cant really recall anyone else here under 20 who sees the beauty and glory in the Tridentine Mass and has raised the issue of a return to the Latin liturgy with you in other threads very recently.

Bigoted fools are in the eye of the beholder. Senility should illicit compassion in those professing the Holy Name of Christ, rather than the idea that they should be ignored.

Then I suggest you look more carefully. You and I and another young person about your age engaged in a rather animated discussion about the propriety of burning heretics. I took the con, if you’ll recall.

I make a policy myself of not criticising any Pope - but perhaps I would not have made some of the decisions they made, myself.

The argument is either true or false in its own merits. And I think, someone who is born recently, is more likely to have a objective approach, as they are not caught-up in their own emotions and circumstances at the time.

Then let us re-examine the exact comment shall we?
AND **some of the advocates for Latin’s wholesale return **weren’t around either, esp. in these forums. **You have teenagers who post here **that I think are into it for the same reason that they like listening to Harry Potters spells in the movies (based loosely on Latin): it just sounds cool!
You were making a refferance to teenagers who support the return of the Latin Liturgy. I can point you in the direction of a quite recent thread where I got into this exact discussion with you. In fact it was only the other day…

And the other debate in question was over a month ago and had nothing to do with the Liturgy- rather it was about Aquinas’ position on the problem of notorious heretics.

I concede the possibility.

Their ideas should be ignored - nothing to do with caring and compassion for the person - as you knew very well went you posted.

Again, you don’t know anything of the kind.

So what ideas in this thread do you think should, simply out of hand, as a matter of course, be ignored.
