Has anyone read this book by Jungmann? It appears quite interesting. I would like to hear opinions before purchasing it.

An interesting tidbit: in some versions (Google search) is printed as Missarum Sollemnia (please note the double L) and in some cases with a single L. I would assume that the correct spelling is with one L but I might me wrong.

My speling is not always the best.😃

I have never heard of it, but:

The classical word (and related words) is spelt with a double-LL, but variants may be spelled with a single-L (Latin spelling was not prescriptive until recent times, and even now one needs be aware of variant spellings, since Latin writings span so many centuries).

In the current calendar of the Church, the highest celebrations are ranked as Sollemnitates, with a double-LL.

Yes, and it’s very good (both volumes) and extensively documented if you like to explore in further study. Only one caution is that, particularly in Vol. II, some of Jungmann’s conclusions are what was current at his time, but its being evaluated differently now. Of course, in some sections there are also his hypotheses which has to be kept in mind. But I liked it the books and found them a nice detailed overview.
