I used to do it when I was younger (about 13-14) and then I realized it wasn’t okay and I stopped. Until recently. (I’m 18 now)

I see why it’s wrong and I completely agree with why it’s wrong, but I fear that I’ve recently fallen into a new addiction to it. How do I stop this snowball before it plummets down the summit? I’m going to Confession tomorrow, but what can I do after that to make sure I stay strong against the attacks of the devil, that is, look outside the moment of intense desire and see that these feelings are meant for marriage only, not selfish indulgence.

Please pray for me.

The Virgin Mother is who I turn to when battling impurity. I reccomend praying the rosary daily. I will pray for you. :signofcross:

The Lord gave you the grace to beat it once. Trust Him on this round.

I’ve been thinking about putting the exorcism prayer everywhere because I’ve noticed that helps me.

(You know, the old "Crux sancta sit mihi lux. Non draco sit mihi dux.
Vade retro satana! Nunquam suade mihi vana!
Sunt mala quae libas. Ipse venena bibas.)

If that helps you, go for it! 👍 Sounds like a good idea.

I love being Catholic. We’re the only ones confident enough in God’s forgiveness to laugh at our sins 😛 (all in moderation though 😃 😉 )
Laughing at our sins – in the way it is being done here, that is, without any minimalization of the sin, means laughing at the devel. He HATES laughter and mirth.

Conversion to the heart of Christ is continual. The temptations wont stop but your desires will change as long as you stay focused on Jesus. If you fall again, he will reach out to you and you get up and start again.

It is best to stop these evil habits before they can take a deep root in the soul. My advice is to try and pray without ceasing for deliverance from your sins saying “Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy upon me, a sinner.” Always bring a book of spiritual advice to read (The Imitation of Christ, The Spiritual Combat, etc) when you are in the bathroom so that your thoughts will be on the Lord and not on temptation. Besides just avoiding the sin itself, one has to learn to avoid the occasion for sin. If there is a situation where you feel like you would be tempted more than usual to commit that sin, then avoid it entirely if possible.

Also the Rosary is a powerful weapon in the battle against sin and Satan: pray it.
